Title
It's called a hook. Most stories have one.
Forgive me for being so forward but what is the point of this thread?
Prove me wrong: All good CRPGs start with an open-ended mystery
there are plenty of dungeon crawlers (especially roguelikes, e.g. Nethack or Doomrl) that don't have a mystery involved
most old crpgs start with an open ended mystery how in the fuck could boomers stomach this crap
The thread master has a "developer" tag, so I assume he's provocative with his bold statement to get the right people to get quality answers at the price of bullshit comments.Forgive me for being so forward but what is the point of this thread?
If that's what he wants to know, then he should just hire meI guess he wants to deepen his knowledge on "what makes a CRPG great/good?"
What is the difference between a mystery and an "open ended" mystery? Maybe examples of each as crpgs would help.Title
