If they weren’t so fucking stupid they would’ve come out with a portable Switch like PS4 instead of the PS5 back in 2020... and something called the PlayStation 5 would’ve come sometime in 2024 or 2025 packed in with a PSVR2 so they could push their VR stuff like they used the PS2 to sell DVD and the PS3 to sell Blu-ray.
This is actually a pretty good idea

Though I would say the PS5 should've come at the latest in late 2021 (summer 2022 if you really want to push it)
Sorry but we're now finally seeing AA and AAA production move on from the 8th gen - a 2024/2025 release would've postponed that for 2/3 more years

2021/2022 would’ve been too early. They just shipped PlayStation VR2 this year. This year is the earliest it could’ve happened. But if they’d of come out with a PlayStation 4 Portable back in 2020, they could’ve just waited out the Switch with that and prepared a more powerful PS5 with affordable VR and started selling the idea of watching movies and TV (and playing games) in VR cinema/theatre mode as an alternative to TV.

2024 is also just 68 days away. I don’t think a November 2024 release would’ve made everything play out like it did with the PS5 but starting in 2024 instead. The larger publishers were originally ready to move on much earlier before it became clear the PS5 wasn’t selling, and that many that were selling were just kind of being held by scalpers. Resident Evil Village came out the year after the PS5 and Series X, and originally it was only coming to those systems. Capcom was ready to start moving on to the now current generation of consoles just under a year of them being out.

It seems like some publishers are having second thoughts about moving on given that announcement EA is bring Jedi: Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One. I wonder how much some of these publishers not doing PS4 versions is Sony making deals to try and get more people to move on to the PS5. Given the PS5 and Xbox Series X sales, it’s going to be a while before any game exclusive to those systems is able to get numbers that cross gen, PS4, and Switch titles get.

At this rate, when PS4/Xbone will die, in 2026? 2028?

PS5/XboxSex still have no games.
and something called the PlayStation 5 would’ve come sometime in 2024 or 2025 packed in with a PSVR2 so they could push their VR stuff like they used the PS2 to sell DVD and the PS3 to sell Blu-ray. But they totally fucked themselves and gave up their lead, and stupidly didn’t wait just a tiny bit so they could capture the VR market and catapult it into the mainstream.
Now it’s obvious that Meta has won the VR market. There’s mostly shovelware, but sometimes something like Dungeons of Eternity comes and shines. Everything I see on PSVR 2 are Quest 2 ports without much improvement, if any. Now PSVR2 might have some stuff worth checking like resident evil village, if you never played the original. But there's still a huge fundamental flaw with it, its not wireless. Wireless makes vr considerably more enjoyable.
