They missed an opportunity to add some new weapons and enemies into their new maps. Especially Horde mode could benefit from expanded bestiary (similar to Quoth).

A bit silly to complain about new content that you don't actually have to play. A number of recent boomer shooters also have horde modes, so it became something of a standard for the genre.

Pretty sure if it was done "just by AI" there would be a bunch of artifacts left. Initial pass is done by AI and from there textures are fixed up by hand. You can't make these things with AI alone. Unless you are making GTA Definitive Edition.

Reinstalled to play the new xmas map jam and tried the survival / horde mode along with it. It's a load of fun, there's only 4 maps but it's survival so it's fine. Scripted 5-second quad and invuln drops from enemies, gradual unlocking of new areas and weapons on the maps, had a lot of fun, will play more.

Underdark Overbright is an eight-level episode set in a mix of medieval architecture and overgrown environments, serving as a prime example of the modern Quake modding community. The new episode brings you through some unique moments such as an underwater gauntlet, a fight to survive on sinking lava platforms and single-player revisitations of Deathmatch classics. As a bonus, the original Quake episodes are available from the Underdark Overbright hub map as well as a whole new end level, so definitely check it out!

Speaking of the original Quake, also included in this Add-on is Copper - a modification that slightly alters Quake’s gameplay! With adjusted behaviors for items, monsters and weaponry, Copper’s quality-of-life changes offer a new take on your next trip through the Slipgate.

HONEY

Encounter waterlogged crypts and underground temples as you face the darkness, combating a deadly plague blighting the land. With expert use of fog effects and silhouettes, traversing through Honey’s maps are just as good at ambiance as they are obscuring the deadly threats you’ll face in this fan-favorite Add-on!

What's the Codex take on Copper, is it pure autism or does it actually make the game more interesting to play?

neither, really. Copper just fixes some of the smaller issues (like nerfing Spawns) and adds a bunch of AI and balance tweaks that aren't immediately noticeable.

Copper is worth it for two fixes alone - enabling shoot-through and reducing voreball turn-rate. The former in particular makes a *huge* positive gameplay difference. Its also pretty light

I played Underdark Overbright on Quake Copper, it's easily on the level of Arcane Dimensions (which is a 10/10 pack). So I dont think anything comes close to UO/AD

There was one map in UD (which requires Copper) which literally has blobber-like puzzles in the style of Eye of the Beholder and Grimrock

I see that you "disagree" with the objective fact that the mod changes a ton of things that aren't mentioned in the official summary or in quick summaries like yours.

You have one or two interesting bugfixes and then a dozen pages of debatable balance changes, that's just how it is.
Trying to push this type of mod as some kind of official and essential experience is just weird, though not unheard of these days.
