There's not even any obsidian games to cover this time... Sounds like no one gives a flying fuck about this game although it's really worth playing.

It's better than "My First RPGMAKER game" Queen's Wish? The first QW was borderline embarassing between Vogel's excitement in reinventing the wheel poorly, the graphics (THAT HE WAS VERY PROUD OF) and the """writing""".

This is just brutal. Hope I'm never in a position in my life where I need to whack it to a video game.

C'mon, let's not be so brutal. Vogel dreams of the creativity and effort that sometimes porn game creators put into their works, he can't simply compete with AI-generated portraits, 2000-era Bioware inspired writing and sanctimonious attitude.

just tried the demo. it looks like a nice remake of queen's wish 1. same "art", same everything, literally.

i was wondering what did vogel do with the 65k $ he received from kickstarter since it seems pretty obvious this game didn't cost him anything?

I've not read much about this one because I thought the first was wank. A great premise ruined by Vogel deciding to add all the town management shit in there.

I see Forts are in there to build, but assume - and hope - that this has returned to a more exploration/high adventure style game?

This is what I want to know. Jeff's older games had the best exploration of any game out there. He should play to his strengths.
I remember finding a talking skull in Exile 3.

Portraits are all generic presets , i suppose it was a less costly way to do them like many design choices in his games it's probably a matter of price. Still nothing to rage about really, seen lot worse.
Free procgen tools can now easily make portraits as good as paid artist commissions, the fact that people still use dogshit baffles me.

Yeah,i frequently replay all the avernum and geneforge games. At least 2-3 games replayed per year,up there with thief and MM games. Golden classics for sure. Even avadon is not that bad in contrast to queen's shite.

First Avernum is the pinnacle of adventuring, nothing I've played before and since, captured that feeling so well. This game is probably the only reason why I still consider myself partly an explorationfag instead of completely descending into combatfaggotry and numbers/systems autism. I still long for a game that could replicate what Avernum did for me.

Despite Jeff's new games becoming worse and worse, until they got to pure decline level of shit, he'll always have my respect for his past work.

I played 2 hours or so. Its similar to the first game but little better. It still sucks Vogel is now shoveware indie rpg developer lol. You can find indie rpgs by searching on sites like steampeak or steam itself that are more fun then the uninspired new shit Vogel puts out now.

For people who have played this in the tens of hours, how is the game? Is it worth getting if you didn't really like the first game?

It depends on what your expectations are. I didn't really care for the first one, but I enjoy this one more. I think it's because I know it's not Avernum or Geneforge and can play it on its own terms. The story is better (evaluating vassals) and the experience works better. If you didn't HATE the first one, I'd say give it a shot.

Great game, really enjoying it. I completed Queen's Wish 1 a few weeks ago, had a blast with that one and thought it was great, and Queen's Wish 2 really flips the idea on its head and, imo, is a totally different experience. Yes some things are similar, but enough of the game has been tweaked, overhauled and imo upgraded that it makes for a really fresh time playing through it. Jeff is a master, man, beyond what I ever thought him capable of. Guy's games are really special.

This game is *insanely GOOD*. The thing about this series so far, imo, is that if u "get into it" just a little? U will end up being into it A LOT. Jeff's writing and pacing just is shown on an ultra-master-sensei-unreal level in this one, and the first game was very good too, so how can u improve on greatness? He does somehow. But yeah, if u allow yourself to get immersed u will end up FULLY immersed in Queen's Wish 2 because it's just *that* dang compelling. Note - I'm 40 hours in and haven't even seen half the game yet, and every minute has been worthwhile and excellent gaming. Play this!! :)

Quick note - Play on Veteran, not Normal, if u want a *chef's kiss*, mwah, type of balancing and challenging experience! Perfectly done imo.

Ships full of new art assets heading to the shores of Seattle:

They just unloaded the art assets on the beach, a serious contender for the best looking cRPG for sure...
