I've got a very rough sneak peak of what Valimor looks like:

unknown.png

And I've got a sketch of what I want the Witch NPC to look like
(I need to adjust proportions a bit when I turn it into a sprite)

unknown.png

Lore:
- She levitates (a symptom of moon worship)
- She keeps metal rods infused with magic floating with her (They are the graphite control rods from chernobyl
621055311200911380.png
)
- Anbu black ops mask (Shes a naruto fan)
- Cute lantern box things? no lore yet lolz, make up something later

Gameplay:
- She offers a "Lottery" service, which will be a slot machine (because I've always wanted to program a slot machine.) Input is gold or gems (depending on what I decide we need to sink) and output is probably items, maybe enchantments, maybe stat blessings, whatever.

Lottery service wont be implemented for a long time probably. I wanted to sketch this idea before I forgot it.

OH Brilliant, it just came to me: The slot machine game will have 3 slots, she has 3 lanterns, boom lore. The lanterns are the magic slots of the lottery game.

After some photoshop magic, witch proportions look improved? I cant tell I'm on too many medications to trust my judgment (and I'm not very picky)

I liked how she turned out, last minute decided to give her an orb. Making all the color variations next and adding her to the game.

Sorry if there's anything you don't like about her, I'll try to come back to make revision later but I'm moving on, I think I'll do the tamer next.

My nervous system is structurally sound, which means my nerve pain is a functional issue, so the idea now is to precede under the assumption i have fibromyalgia, slight POTS, and IBS. There is no test to diagnose fibro, and the amount of pain it causes widely varies. Some people dont have it that bad, other people are completely disabled.

A compound topical treatment has been ordered in for me to try on my hands and feet (which hurt like a migraine constantly, sleep depriving me often.) The medications I've been put on are actually exasperating my fibro and IBS symptoms, and causing cognitive fog. Starting the new meds, waning off the old, finding a proper diet, and getting a good specialist to talk to locally is the current treatment plan.

I like this plan very much, things are looking hopeful. Ive been able to tolerate three migraines a week + IBS my entire life, and graduated magna cum laude with honors that way, but my extremities just escalated in pain until the only thing I could do was exist. If I can reduce JUST that pain, I could still achieve my dreams with the usual migraines and constant headaches.

But I'm feeling even more optimistic because the comorbidity of these conditions is what is so vicious. When I had cryptic tonsils collecting billions of bacteria in my throat, I couldnt keep my mouth "clean" and any tiny cut would ulcerate for ten days (I was terrified of eating in this condition for many years and still feel anachronistic fear when a piece of pretzel pokes my tongue). Severe mouth ulcerations make it extremely hard to socialize, eat, and even sleep if they start to throb.

So my tonsil removal helped EVERYTHING, not just my mouth. It was a huge relief. And if I'm lucky, another big relief is coming soon.

Fibromyalgia doesn't have a cure, but the symptoms fluctuate (unlike permanent structural damage, I'm assuming.) Since my nerves are not structurally damaged, there is hope for the future of Realm of the Tempest.

The dream may still be possible, to pursue a mission of kindness to reduce the suffering of the earth, especially by educating and entertaining the youth, by making educational videos on mathematics and computer science through game development, using ROTT as an open sourced dev kit available to anyone with all of my art and code freely available. *(Level maps are the only non shared asset, because that'd ruin the fun for speedrunners video authenticity)*

Drawings look incline, very nice dungeon crawling aesthetic. Hopefully you go for increasing the long term combat focus and exploration rather than just making it all about speed running.

Echoing Valky's concern. Gameplay's super fun, but I couldn't care less for speed-running.

The less antropomorphic creatures look badass. Hope you don't get sued over grim beedrill tho.

oh totally its ALWAYS been about that, but progress is so slow on a one man team that i have to keep myself entertained and keep the game balanced through the competitive speedrunning side (speedrunning is not a feature, its a coping mechanism of the development process)

the plans for this project have always been long term, im often dreaming a few years ahead

Here are the upcoming to do lists im going to binge through one at a time or maybe gradually in parallel:
- Drawing a wide variety of characters
- 3D modeling a wide variety of foliage
- 3D modeling lots of books
- Buildings (especially in an RTS themed buildings like blacksmiths and graveyards, farms, factories, watch towers)
- Programming new features (especially ease of use, like save file manager, game modes, randomizer option, fonts and display preferences especially with combat UI because it could use much more love)
- Refactoring sloppy code
- Making item art
- Implementing rituals
- Equipping unique combat spells to each enemy
- Making educational videos about mathematics and computer science through game development

And then finally I'll be making a public version of the development kit with all my art and code, providing plenty of assets for people to design their our realms. I hope to have this ready by the time my nephews are old enough to play around with game development, so I can use this project as an educational tool for them.

Then I'll also have plenty of assets to do a level designing binge to fill the world map

Glad to see you're coming back to your passion work. But more important: when's the next Rugrats DLC coming?

Feeling better phyisically?

Just realize you edited with the pictures. Damn, those monsters look SICK.

Still haven't really solved the physical problems, still having issues
:(

Really liking the monster design.
Hope you're doing well, glad to see you're still going.

Hey if anyone is interested in level design, I'll be setting up Realm of the Tempest with a Dev-Kit version that will allow anyone to make their own worlds. If anyone is interested in pursuing that we can potentially merge everyone's worlds together. You can be a part of Bramble Gate Studios :)

You can hit me up here on the boards or on Discord, Otay#3662
Ask anything you'd like about the project
(I could use the encouragement to get the Dev-Kit moving faster)

I might chime in with my own little world once the lore's more fleshed out, to see what the in-game logic is.

You should repost that on the dev thread in the codex workshop, might be interesting to someone there too.

Hope your pain gets better soon.

Awesome! Good advice I'll look into that repost idea later
