Strategy game that has an strategy map like in Medieval Total War 1.
And has real-time with pause battles like in Centurion.
This is an example gameplay. https://youtu.be/TNnAglnTVZo

Strictly total war style battle plus strategic map?
Takeda 2 and 3.
Gates Of Troy and Spartan - can't micro your units much, only simple advance and retreat order, but you get to deploy your troop.
Dominions series - No micro during tactical battle.

If not strictly total war style.
nobunaga's ambition: sphere of influence PK
grand tactician series.

If by any chance you want to make total war style games, maybe adding supply line and skirmish/recon gameplay elements around it, and made pitched battle into a rare climax experience.

Thank you!
I have two problems:
1. the strategy map is not like MTW1. I do not want to lead an army through the map.
2. cannot control units during the battle

Anyway, my game is so great fun, I can play that. It is enough for me.
Only problem is I always get a new idea/feature that I have to program. Like "press F key for raising fleet". Clicking the "Raise Fleet" button is cumbersome when you have to raise a huge fleet.

Medieval Total War 2.
It doesn't have an abstracted board-game like playing field like the first game does. It's micromanagement hell thanks to all the units you have to move around. The total war games started being bad after Medieval 1, because you want to spend most of your time either planning or being engaged in the battles, not micro your general, their wife, their company and all that junk. It always ends up with a bunch of generals being forgotten in on corner of the map or another and dying of old age because you forgot about their campaign and goal.

That's not a problem with the game, you're just a shit player.
Nonsense. It's about what you prefer the game to focus on, in later Total War games you spend much more time on the overmap than actually engaging in significant battles. If you don't care to micromanage 50 towns but would rather just focus on the big important parts on a map over provinces and then engage in meaningful battles then the first two games are far superior to the later ones. I'm not sure who asked for a terrible Civilization clone to become a part of Total War but they got their way.

Is there any strategy game where you can save during the battle/siege?
In my game the siege is a very long process. You have to form ladders from your units to attack a bastion/tower.
I might should implement the save. Hmm it is difficult, and I do not know any game which uses it. MTW does not that sure.
