I've recently finished RDR/UN, expected just some generic Western shit and but pretty shocked how bleak and harsh it was. Does sequel keep similar tone?
Ignore the negativity, its an excellent Western themed game but its designed with vast open wilderness areas that you must appreciate to enjoy its appeal.

So for example in some areas there are only animals to hunt or Easter Eggs like Alien carvings or bandit camps, it has lots of hidden things to discover if you like exploring. But its well worth playing, I spent about 350 hours on RDR2

And you can add mods that increase activities which is recommended

I can appreciate that point of view, because that's how I was starting to enjoy the game at one point, but unfortunately I found myself hating the save system so much I couldn't get into it any more. The save system was like the Princess and the Pea for me.

I had a friend beg me to play this for a long time. He finally bought me a copy for my birthday and the only thing I did was add a mod that let me drag nude hookers around with my horse.

I couldn't find anything more interesting to do? Are there people who actually like this game for the story?

Shit. Couldn't get myself to finish it. Got so bored with the open world.
It bores me immediately. Nothing fun to do because it plays like shit (with walking not only forced, but the next speed that you must hold a button down for too fast a run) and is so railroaded; terrible anti-western story with really fake sounding protagonist who whines and talks endlessly like a woman (the problem of whiny, submissive tool Niko from IV never addressed, now in a genre that normally says so much with so few words). I despise what Rockstar became and don't know how I will ever play through another of their restrictive, sluggish, UNFUNNY open world adventures.

The token realism in RDR2 (horse shitting, snow physics, horse shitting on snow physics) just serves to highlight uncanny valley bullshit when you try to complete any mission in an open, player agency driven way. Or the way the story is railroaded into some Stockholm Syndrome bs.
Most Rockstar games have that problem. San Andreas has one of the stupidest stories in any game like it because it tries to do this realistic gang crime drama main story while giving you railroaded missions where you hop into a superjet and fly it upside down while blowing up several dozen enemy fighters.

We're supposed to believe Arthur is honorable and doesn't like the life of crime and the gang has to lay low because a stray death or two in Blackwater ruined them, but then in the missions Arthur guns down the population equivalent of an entire frontier territory in one afternoon and the gang escapes like nothing happened.

GTA 4 is the only game that comes close to not having this problem, since you're given the choice to make Niko do morally good shit that actually influences the plot a little, and the missions never make you do anything especially wild.
BRO IS DIASAGREE HERE

YOU KILL A SMALL STADIUM WORTH OF PEOPLE FOR FUN AND THEN KILLING YOUR REVENGE TARGETIS A HUGE MORAL CHOICE LOLLOLOL

ON THE WAY TO THAT CUTSCENES I PROBABLY RAN OVER THREE PEOPLE FOR FUN AND THEN KILLED SOMEONE TO TAKE THEIR COOL CAR

I've started playing this game, only doing it in first person.

It's great, it's fucking great. Don't listen to the "everything is shit and woke" crap. It's not KC:D, but sometimes, you just sometimes, you feel it. You're on a horse and everyone around seem to have a life of their own. And so does the world and the so many fucking activities you can do.

Also, something I didn't expect. The writing is good. Very good. The story so far is still fairly basic, but the dialog lines, the character interactions is definitely top tier. The humor has some of that quality where every line and counter-line just hits the right tone and has the right words. The voice acting is also superb in almost every instance.

The missions are your typical set pieces of GTA, heavily scripted, but they are well executed with varying situations that still surprise you. Everything goes wrong, not in the way you sometimes expect. Arthur being forced to drive a cart full of women shouting in the streets that they should be allowed to vote was hilarious.

I haven't done much hunting, crafting, fishing ; it's possible I do some of it in the endgame. Speaking of, I just got spoiled the main "plot twist"

tubercholosis

and holy fucking shit, I don't think many games ever tried that.

And did I mention the soundtrack? The soundtrack _FUCKS_

It's ironic I had bought the game when it came out but never came around to play it. Play it even if you have one ounce of curiosity.

I have made several attempts at playing this game and am always left defeated as a human being. That unbearable intro/tutorial/prologue whatever the fuck you wanna call it is the most disgusting self indulgent pretentious faggot circle jerk I have ever seen in my life. Does this "game" become fun at some point when the faggots who made it stop blowing thier own dicks? Just awful.
