Would accepting his bargain and rigging the sub to explode void the overall deal with Them?

Yes. Furthermore the only way to do that with their existing tools and resources would be to provoke a reactor meltdown, which would be pretty much a declaration of war.

Damn. 6 then. Screw this guy and brainwashed kids. I'm going home. With a conditional >5. Killing the former kids is a good idea too.

2 Can't we do B and A together? If not A>B
3 C
4 A - Most of the world is corrupted. We need a pure new world.

Although, Cassidy, will the migratory fleet in 4A come with weapons? Or do we have to vote for 4B to have militarized spacecraft?

No, unless you count the main nuclear propulsion system* that would make something of this scale possible with their existing tech and reprogramming its detonators so they could be used as impromptu unguided missiles. Just as a reminder, this will all happen with the equivalent of 1960s space tech besides the FTL drive, better computers and maybe AIs.

*It will be constructed in outer space because launching each of them in hundreds of separate modules from atmosphere would be even more prohibitively expensive.

"A tyrant would have arrested and executed you for what you just said, instead of personally supporting the inclusion of the right of free speech in the Constitution of Vinland."
Freyjanna does not know what a 'tyrant' means. :M

1B.
The Butlerian Jihad will not come to pass. I don't see the harm in 'not intelligent' machines, as in our present day technology level 'not intelligent'. How do you run a space program without computers and automated factories anyway?
2A>B. I support Grimgravy's sentiment that both programs should be run concurrently. We need a long-term solution, and we need proper conditions for a population boom, but we can also benefit from importing qualified personnel from abroad. We don't need janitors, but we might benefit from their engineers, scientists or skilled workers. Though with the technology disparity their scientists might as well be janitors anyway.
The most important budgets are space program, weapons research and counter-intelligence (so that no one can interfere with it), medical insurance (we can't afford to lose people, we are too few), family encouragement fund, and educational program to put more people to factories and universities. Everything else can burn along with the planet when ITZ arrives. All our efforts should be targeted to have the space program up and running ASAP.
3C. Can't divert much more resourses from our main goal.
4A. Abandon ship. Alpha Centauri looks the most promising, but if we can, we should scatter across several worlds. Humanity's problem is that it keeps all eggs in a single basket. We should try and spread across multiple star systems to eventually have a chance against this new threat.

SO GLAD THIS IS STILL HAPPENING

1B. Same as ^
2C. We still need manual laborers, warm bodies for future wars, etc.
3C. Might as well leverage moar intel.
4B. FIGHT. If the invaders are trans-dimensional, I can't image anywhere is safe. Of course, we'll probably just become as monstrous as them...but surely we can blow shit up

Can Sarah lie about the planets and send us on a wild goose chase as a last 'fuck you'? She certainly seems capable of at least a little defiance, and might be capable of deception if there is no promise of retribution.

If she tells the truth - and if we can confirm it, - then 1A. If we can't determine, then 1C.

2A - meet the diplo. They know about the program now anyway.
3A - meet the diplos. Poland cannot into space anyway.
4B - let everyone come with us if they can. The more, the merrier. Yay to intergalactic wars!

Maybe. However, why would someone begging to be killed want to do that?
She is able of defiance, and she has reasons to resent us: for being an interface to the machine that wiped out her race, for killing her husband, for outsmarting her - for everything that put her in the current predicament, in fact.

Wasn't it a punishment that we didn't grant her a quick death, like we did to Jacob?

Death frees her from any responsibility for a lie that he might otherwise have. She has a reason to hate us, but she also fears us. Death alleviates that fear, leaving only hate as a driving factor.

If her words can't be verified, I'd only kill her after we arrive to our destination. No sooner.
