Halp, I am having holes in my memory and need assistance from oldtimers.
I am trying to recall an unfinished MMORPG from late 90s. It was called something like "Illyria" or "Elyria", or "Tales" or "Chronicles" of thereof, or something like that, can't be googled due to modern games of similar names. It was an indie topdown game with bright and pretty graphics (maybe vaguely comparable to Fairy Tale Adventure 2, but topdown and not as good-looking) and tons of written lore, developed circa 1997-1998. Had a strong development start due to managing to pick up the disinherited player base of AOL NWN wholesale, but then bogged down with ambitious expansion plans, the lead developer began throwing tantrums and pissed off most of audience who left to play Illusia: Quest for the Eternals instead (another long forgotten MMO). At some point it was actually playable, and I played the alpha version for a couple of days before everything started to fall apart. Last I remember, the developer was going to split the game world into two separate games for "good" and "evil" players, then it fizzled out entirely.
If you were into AOL NWN or know someone who was, chance are, you might recall it.
