J.E.W ran away from romero with his buns squealing. Romero couldn't handle the drama and left. Sawyer was fired because he demanded respect from midway.

I have high hopes for Obsidian. We've seen what they can do as Black Isle and Obsidian. I know they get a lot of crap for making sequels, but it's good for a new company to start out making sequels to already popular titles. There's a better chance they will do well and get more contracts and more money. Once they allocate the funds they will make their own original game. And it appears that's just what they are doing.

he BETTER be talking about NWN!
BG was among the greatest of RPG.

bg was a fun game... weren't much o' an rpg. largely meaningless dialogue options and joinable npcs that had not much more than a couple o' catch phrases... not to mention a story that were just too silly even for typical fantasy fare.

bg were the first d&d game to be made in a long time that were actually fun, and it were really big. just as with fallout, folks gots a recollection distorted by nostalgia.

HA! Good Fun!

Hahhahaaaa excellent ! Hope to see the guy ranting again at Obsdian forums.
I am pretty interested in how the Bio faithful will take to Josh over on the NWN2 forums. He can be pretty damn brutal and honest at the same time. If you’re an idiot with a retarded argument, he’ll let you know.

I’m with Vol, when he left BIS he did say something like he wanted to get far away from rpg’s. Good to see he’s got his senses back and is making rpg’s like he should be!

No, I meant NWN. That game was pure crap. BG1 may not have been brilliant, but it was a hell of a lot better than NWN.

"YAY!"

Maybe NWN2 will have a proper ending!

But it is good to see some of the industrys greatest talent coming back together, and while i (as a self confessed Biowhore) havent really got a problem with obsidian making sequels, it would be nice to see an original CRPG from those lads. (God knows the genre needs it.)

if you honestly think that bg1 were a superior rpg than was nwn, then the value o' your opinion is made manifestly apparent... or you ain't played bg1 in so long that you is simply confused. in either case, thanks.

keeps in mind that we ain't saying that nwn were a particularly good crpg, but the suggestion that it were inferior to bg1 is just plain stoopid.

HA! Good Fun!

I agree. I attach far more value to his opinion now.

This is definately great news!
I wonder what's next: Tim Cain, Leon Boyarksy and Jason Anderson joining Obsidian...
That will be something worth seeing. Doubt it will happen though...

I heard Chuck Norris is sending in his application, too.

I do hope all this talent leads to better games - at the moment I'm fixated on STALKER to save me from the dispair of having nothing good to play, assuming that it ever gets released. Yes, my standards get lower by the day.

Luckily, at the moment I'm in England, and I bought Grim Fandango the other day for 3 quid. It distracts me.

The Return of Jedi was crappiest episode of the three last episodes ... so, can we expect J.E.Sawer being tempted by the DarkSide and then fight along with TeddyBears?

(that sounds a perfect story for NWN2 yay!)

Some quotes from
http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php ... 35645&st=0

Q: I'm also curious what your role will be on NWN:2.
A: Senior designer.

Q: Extremely wishful thinking, but it'd be pretty cool if JE was able to push for turn-based variant of the combat system
A: That's a pretty tall order for anything intended as a persistent world. Anyway, I'm not going to Obsidian to jump in and start crescent-kicking people in the face for rule changes. Ferret, Frank, and the other peeps know what they are doing. I will be happy to work on area design for a change.

The team already has a pretty solid plan for NWN2. I'll just be helping them with that, not launching into a furious barrage of requests for changes.

Being a lead can sometimes be very rewarding. On a day-to-day basis, it is stressful. Leads have to focus on the game as a whole and have to keep in constant

*shrugs* It's true I haven't played either in a long time. What stands out in my memory is that BG1 could actually be fun, while NWN simply wasn't (at any time). From what I recall, NWN shared all the same weaknesses as BG1 and tossed in a bunch more for good measure. I'm not a big fan of any of Bioware's RPGs, but NWN is the only one I can honestly say I detest.
