it has 52,462 product reviews on Steam and 39.367 on the Quest Store for instance).

reviews aren't sales. By that argument something like angry bird sold pitance because it has like few thousand reviews compared to alyx despite rovio literally floating with more money than GTA money.

It only shows that steam i for steamtards while casuals buy on quest. Also if i remember correctly oculus announced that Beat saber sold the most on quest despite short life of Quest2 though beat saber is now owned by oculus so we don't know truth.

Reviews generally map to Sales at a ratio of somewhere between x30-x150 with the average being between x60-80:
https://www.pcgamesn.com/steam/number-of-copies-sold
https://www.gamedeveloper.com/business/using-steam-reviews-to-estimate-sales

At the time Half Life: Alyx sold ~2 million copies it had around 40k reviews indicating a x50 multiplicator: https://archive.md/kx1Em
At the time Beat Saber sold ~4 million copies it had around 44k reviews indicating that approximately 2 million of them come from Steam: https://web.archive.org/web/20210223074429/https://store.steampowered.com/app/620980/Beat_Saber/

You can also compare between Facebook's Rift (PC) and Quest Store, where it presumably sold ~2.6x more in comparison:
https://www.oculus.com/experiences/rift/1304877726278670
https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/2448060205267927

It's funny to see you shill for the Quest though at the same time you do Star Shitizen, since there's absolutely no way you'd get something like what Star Shitizen was supposed to be or even Elite: Dangerous/No Man's Sky with the target platform for VR being a Quest. No "Cloud Tech" for another 15-20 years I'm afraid.

Do you undersand that there i vast difference between casual gamer and steam user? Casual gamer doesn't read IGN, doesn't leave reviews he just spends money and doesn't give a fuck.

Are you seriously that surprised that Vr headset which sold 10mln units and had beat saber on front page of store since it launched as fist game everyone recommends and in top charts and one of few they had at start sold well ?

And yes i have both NMS and ED, Also Avorion, EvoMercenary, X4 and 100s of other space game you never even heard of.

Sony showcases their new 4K OLED microdisplay for VR/XR. The female translator is terrible so it's hard to sit through.

4k per eye is great but there is nothing on market that can achieve those resolutions with good enough framerate. I have Quest 2 which is about 2k per eye and playing actual games require me to lower down res a lot on my 1080,

Until dynamic fovated rendering is implemented situation will stay that way for a long time.

PSVR 2 is going to have dynamic foveated rendering and that's gonna be the mainstream headset so I'm sure every upcoming VR headset is going to implement it, especially Quest 3 that needs it the most. I just wonder how well is it going to work, I'd really hate if the quality change is going to be noticeable, like seeing a pop-in.

I hope so, It is not only VR that will benefit from it. I can see perfectly something like Tobi Eye tracker being used in normal games that uses dynamic fovated rendering. VR is just natural best way to achieve that because you remove all other factors like room environment, sunshine that could mess it up.

Very light micro OLED VR headset with pancake lenses. 2 versions, standalone and tethered. Kickstarter already reached the goal in first couple of hours after going live.

The more I'm looking into it, the worse it looks. The refresh rate drops considerably with resolution increase. It says it can do 2560x2560 per eye but it can only achieve it that 30Hz, which is unusable.

Right now it uses Nolo tracking (which is just terrible) but Steam VR tracking addon should be ready for launch.

Also it's from a Chines company and the packaging is a blatant Quest ripofff.

Chances are there's gonna be a lot of Headsets popping up next year from both less and more "reputable" companies in that form factor now that the Micro OLED Screens are available on the market. Apple's AR/VR glasses were also supposed to be Micro OLED and the Valve Deckard rumors/leaks were also said to employ that display technology. Just gotta wait a bit and not jump on the first KickStarter thing.

Vertigo Games' After The Fall earned $1.4m in 24 hours
The VR shooter sold more copies on day one than Arizona Sunshine in one month
Marie Dealessandri
Thursday 16th December 2021

Vertigo Games' After the Fall has earned over $1.4 million within the first 24 hours of its launch.

The virtual reality first-person shooter, which released on December 9, has sold more on launch day than Vertigo's previous title, Arizona Sunshine, did during its entire first month on sale.

Arizona Sunshine launched back in December 2016, showing the positive trajectory of the VR market since then.

Analytics firm GlobalData recently estimated that the global VR market was worth $5 billion in 2020, with potential to grow to become a $51 billion industry by 2030.

It's a topic GamesIndustry.biz also recently discussed with Polyarc, the developer of VR hit Moss. Publishing and communications director Lincoln Davis said that the VR market has grown steadily in the past few years, and has a high trajectory.

"The market is growing leaps and bounds," he said. "Not at the rate of consoles, but it's becoming more mainstream. We see other studios doubling down on this as well, other sequels coming out, games that are coming that are full game experiences and not tech demos. People are starting to figure out what sort of game content actually works on these platforms."

Vertigo Games was acquired by the Embracer Group last year, for €50 million in cash and stock.

Is vr porn worth investment?

imo yes, but it depends on specific fetishes and such. You can wade through a sea of shit before randomly coming across something that clicks. I'm just talking regular vr porn scenes (animated or 3dpd), I haven't really tried waifu-maker type games or the like.

The REMake Evil 2/3 Mods for PCVR have been released: https://github.com/praydog/REFramework/releases
  • A fleshed out scripting system using Lua (check the wiki!)
  • Generic 6DOF VR support to RE7, RE2, RE3, RE8, DMC5, and MHRISE
  • Full motion controls in RE2 and RE3 (when using FirstPerson, it is not enabled by default)
  • Physical knife damage in RE2/RE3
  • Physical grenade throwing in RE2/RE3
  • Early WIP motion controls for RE8
There's also rudimentary support for Resident Evil 7/8, DMC5 and Monster Hunter Rise in the package, although those are apparently in an early state: https://github.com/praydog/REFramework/wiki/VR-Troubleshooting

Also a Cyberpunk 2077 Mod has been released by the VorpX developer, it uses Alternate Eye Rendering so will likely require a good PC beyond what you'd need to run the game on a normal PC: https://www.vorpx.com/cyberpunk-vr-download/
