Looking for a RPG game that has a robust character creation that allows different builds AND has an interesting combat to use those builds in. Builds must be both mechanically and aesthetically differentiated and the combat should ideally be minimum in trash fights and tedium.

Grateful for any suggestions. :)

Exampels of games to not suggest:

Expeditions: Vikings
Reasons: builds are all extremely boring and have limited viability and balance, combat is tedious and filled with boring trash mobs

POE 2
reasons: char creation is good but actual combat and gameplay is largely tedium, diffuclty jumps between braindead trash and artificial difficultly tier encounters that require you to cheese them

AOD
Reasons: the perfect game but I have already played it, same is the case with most well known titles in this dumb hobby

Wizardry VIII has among the best character creations of all time, but sadly it is overfilled with trash mobs. The souls games allow for fun builds but not sure if you rate them as rpgs

I also fly into an uncontrollable autistic rage when confronted with blobbers :(
wish I could enjoy the peak boomers classics but they are just too alien to my crypto-zoomer brain

I would consider them as RPGs but I already played the first two and I don't think I can run the third on my laptop, I guess I might replay 2 but idk it just isn't the same

Dungeons of Chaos

Why? Tome is procedurally generated and dungeons of chaos is all hand crafted. Tome is single character and dungeons of chaos has a party.

Ever hear of Dragon Quest 9? Lemme tell you about Dragon Quest 9! This gaem? This game has it all... character creation, builds, battles, it’s got heavenly fruit and a magic boot! It’s got starry sentinels and mental vegetables! It has an important tree and even a bee! And I didn’t even tell you about the endgame yet! This game has a game after the game called an endgame so the game isn’t even over when it ends! If you liek builds, dress up, combat and role playing then you ‘aughtta check out Dragon Quest 9, I just know you’ll love it!

Also, Silent Storm (if you want to consider that an rpg)
and EYE Divine Cybermancy (if you're ok with fps gameplay)

maybe something like Fallout 1/2, ATOM RPG or Jagged Alliance 2?
and if you like Dark Souls you might be interested in Dragon's Dogma.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Bubbles In Memoria
Arcanum offers pretty varied builds.

Caves of Qud if you want to do two headed, four-legged PC with poison dripping stinger, or esper that has power to destroy things with xir mind or purestrain human that can be augmented with cybernetics.

Final Fantasy Tactics job system is a lot of fun.

In the same vein, I recommend Voidspire and Alvora tactics. Those games are super obscure yet super fun.

sry I didn't say but yeah I already played that

it was ok but I found the pawn system kinda annoying
even more of an action game than the other "souls-likes", but pretty good tbh: Absolver.

turning down the graphics only makes the game look more like a graphic novel, so it always looks pretty good.
