Thinking about it, while talking about The Division Ross should have mentioned the Black Looters Murderers as a RL example of The Purge, but if he did I didn't notice. It doesn't help that doing so would have resulted in him instantly being cancelled by the mainstream media forever and ever.
Ross is smarter than that, and the points he's making about what life in a place cut off from an outside world that may no longer exist is a lot more interesting.

Sure, but when he mentioned that The Purge movies were a bit unrealistic due how everyone was one step away from going apeshit, that's close to what happened during the BLM riots.

That wasn't exactly a stone throw tho, that's a combination of a media push, months of quarantine and the power social media has now

That's not quite what he said. Ross said everyone turning out to be a serial killer was unrealistic, but people looting stores, assaulting each other and committing murders in the process would be more realistic. Which is what happened during the BLM riots.

People didn't go 'apeshit' during the BLM riots, the rioters were being bailed out and transported to various cities by activist groups to achieve a specific political goal.

Ahoy talks about things concerning gaming, his recent one was about trackers, old synth tools to make synth music, quite good:

Mandalore is another one that's similar to Ross if you haven't heard:

I don't think Mandalore is really on the same level as Ross. He's a bit too skin-deep in his appraisals and doesn't get real into technical stuff or detailing his interpretations of game's content as much or as entertainingly as Ross does.

The only person I think comes close is the guy who's openly expressed admiration for Ross in a few of view of his videos; Tehsnakerer.

A bit too dry and bri'ish, and not as sure of himself in his convictions, and tends to prefer the long-form video essay format more than Ross does.

Only mandalore video I watched after skimming some was Advent Rising, and it was too short for my liking. Every other video seems to just be about well known games that aren't particularly interesting or notable.

In the episode he mentions that the batteries on the gravity gun died, so don't expect Freeman to go crazy over that.

I might have it from CD Action, they had plenty of obscure games. Didn't play it because it looked bland and boring. Even back then when my machine was so bad I would play anything from any genre...

I get the feeling he's missing something with the game. Also he complains about skimpy armor, because of course...

Good to see Infinitron's people represented in games.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Ross sees a merchant rubbing his hands together, and his first thought goes to Jews. Hmmm.

Also the rant about the scantily dressed woman seems a bit off.

He should stick to games that don't require much ... Not sure if I want to use the word "skill", but definitely something close. His best game videos involve adventure games and closely related genres.

Ross occasionally really puts his spectrum on full display. Like the initial ranting about resource management and characters. He gets too deadset on playing in one specific way and then blames the game for not bending backwards to 100% support it. I just don't know.
