I tried to visit the forum for some up-to-date shadenfreude but the website keeps crashing on me as well as serving me errors "IE11 not supported" while I am using a Firefox-based browser.
These guys really have a knack for quality control don't they.

So I wonder...

SC is supposed to be a such advanced simulation - how well various systems on spaceships and spacefighters are simulated?

Is it on par with DCS or Falcon?

Or it's just "press one button to start the engine and everything else"?

Or it's just "press one button to start the engine and everything else"?

You walk up to your spaceship. You hold F and look around for some glowing panel or button and click it so you can open an entrance to your ship (ie, call down an elevator or a ramp, deploy a ladder, open a door, etc). You then enter your ship and head towards the pilot's seats. Doors inside the ship open automatically for you. You then hold F and click on the pilot's seat to enter it. Then you press R to power up the ship. Your shields slowly start going from 0 HP to max HP but everything else is immediately available. If you are inside a hangar, then you need to hold F to look around the cockpit for an LCD screen browse through the menus and hail the local landing control so they can open the hangar doors for you. Once the doors are open, you hold spacebar to take off, and then hold down WASD to move and move your mouse to aim your ship. You can press T (or L, they keep rebinding the keys every other patch, IDK what it is now) to turn on flood lights, which are useful for exploring caves or landing at night so you don't crash into stuff. There is another keybind you can press to lock or unlock the exterior doors on your ship. That is it for the mechanics of controlling your ship.

On one of the LCD screens, you can adjust power from shields to engines to weapons, but it is useless. Redirecting power to your engines does not increase your max speed. Redirecting power to your shields does not increase their max HP. Redirecting power to your weapons does not increase their DPS. There are other consoles in larger ships for engineers, hacking, etc, but they are useless because that gameplay has not been implemented. The only thing other players onboard a ship can do is operate turrets.

That's not correct anymore.

Redirecting power to engines makes boost regenerate much faster. Boost in combat is effectively THE thing that you need as it not only works on main engines but also on thrusters.
Redirecting power to shields regenerate them faster. Which is crucial in combat.
Redirecting power to weapons regenerate faster capacitors and increases amount of shots before you deplete cap.

Moreover if you move one of those to minimum it slows down to a crawl.
In active combat all of those has to be used more than in something like Freespace which was pretty heavy on those.
Aside from that you can overdrive some components.

Other players doing something else other than turrets was implemented a while ago. There are now "modes" and different people can use those separately. Like "missile" operator mode, scanning, mining etc. adjusting power triangle, overdrive of components, call ATC etc. More is supposed to come with engineering gameplay in 2032

The Origin 890 Jump is billed as a luxury ship to go touring around the galaxy. Ingame, it is the playerbase's go-to large sized mothership for multiplayer gameplay. It has a forward hangar bay that three small ships can be fit into (even more if you squeeze in even tinier ships like the Merlin that do not have their own quantum drives). It also has a hospital bed so you can respawn on the ship if you die. Currently ingame, there are two other large sized ships with hangars (the Carrack and the Starlifter) that are lorewise supposed to be better suited for combat than a private yacht, but the Carrack's hangar only has room for one single small ship and only the smaller end of that tier can fit in underneath the hanger doors. You can try squeezing larger small ships like the Hornet or the Origin 300i inside, but you will very likely break off a wing. The Starlifter can fit two small ships into its hangar, but again you run into size constraints where only a handful of small ships can fit inside. Same deal as the Carrack when it comes to probability of damaging the small ship. The Origin 890's hangar bay is very spacious, both wide and deep, so even larger small ships that are a little too wide can be safely angled through the doors without damaging the small ship.

As long as retards continue to believe in the Ponzi, why would you stop?
Keep milking these cows like mad and enjoy your future Bugatti Veyron, while tons of hot women come nearby you at your seat in a hot beach near miami wearing rose-tinted glasses while smoking a cigar. Your massive yacht standing still near the coast, champagne popping, women dancing, valets serving the entrée.
