DR got it. It's SE IV.

Micro intensive and enjoyable, but easily abused.

The fact a blonde white girl was hired to represent "Professor Sekada" is much more problematic. Privilege, she needs to check it.

I think the intro is quite likely the most straightforward 'you've been betrayed, revenge or butthurt' I've seen in video games.

Well, she should check it anyway, just to be on the safe side. You know how those Caucasians are.

    game: Hack, Slash, Loot

Killed this fag in one hit. Butcher wannabe.

This fag however killed me even though I got the elusive Shadeform effect on a weapon, which makes 3/4 of all melee attacks and 1/2 of all magic attacks miss me. I didn't find blessing fountains for two floors. Apparently my HP Regen ring AND spell-like ability stopped working due to a curse, so I had to face him at half health. I think I could have used the shadeform to walk through walls, but that didn't occur to me at the time.

Overall it's an entertaining babby's first roguelike, but relies too much on random luck. Since there is no inventory and everything moves at the same speed, there's no way to plan attacks other than using chokepoints. Did you enter a room and there was a strong thing beside the door? Too bad, u die.

That's the same reason I can't play DoD much unless I'm just completely fucked up from being sick or some such.

I was afraid of that, but somehow I'm not bothered that much by the shitty controls.

Good point, guess Crusader is one of those fauxgressive games. Too bad Kotaku wasn't around in the 90's.

Precursors and, while buggy and generally unfinished and Russian, it is a fucking excellent game. Try and get a fully patched Russian version with English subtitles and the fanpatch. That was the most enjoyable version I played.

This game any good? I a bit strapped for cash at the moment and there isn't any 'demo' available. (yet, anyway)

    There is (both kinds.)

I'd say it's decent if you like that kind of gameplay. The controls are kinda slippery and it feels a bit grindy at times, but I probably got a good 15-20 hours out of it. Dunno if that's worth 15 bucks to you or not. I still haven't seen every kind of enemy yet but I'm getting near the appreciable power cap and don't feel like playing it much any more. Been playing Muramasa on Dolphin instead.

I'm generally not a fan of Metroidvania-like platformers, but Rogue Legacy is really good. It simply sucked up my time this past weekend. For a roguelike, it's a really nice breath of fresh air.

Full disclosure: I work for GOG so my opinion may be suspect due to the game being sold by us (for those not in the know :P)

This game is actually quite the time eater if you ain't careful. About the controls, most folks refer to the Down Strike attack being a bit slippery but you can configure that so all you need to do is press down on the D-pad or analog stick. I like the various ways the game trolls you, especially on NG+. Jesus Christ, NG+ is damn BRUTAL. The platforming is great, the unlocks you find are always pretty cool, and there's even a bit of C&C with the third row of equipment unlocks ("Do I really want to run around in the full blood set as a lich king even though I may start out with maybe 40 health?").

There is an official demo you can snag from developer's own site.

I hate the ridiculous level of micro this game requires, but it keeps dragging me back to try out different combinations of stuff. One thing that frustrates me about the game is I want to use leaders as champions with the detailed magic item system, but it's almost completely worthless because 99% of them die just as easily as any old grunt and there don't seem to be any good crowd control magic items. I can beat the AI quite easily on small maps, but big one's they overwhelm me, probably because I CBF dealing with all that endless micro required for optimal play. I do really like the vast amount of specialised content there is, with many of the nations behaving in quite special ways.
