Careful, you'll run into a gamestopping bug if you are running this on Vista/Win7.
I played this a year ago, all bugs are avoidable, but annoying to do so... like jumping at the right time on the trapdoors, pushing the furniture the *right* way...

But really, I'm impressed that the Source Engine can still look this good after 5 years. I wish more engines would be modular

Just gunnin' down some HECU soldiers during the surface tension chapter. There's something about the Half-Life crossbow that makes it my favorite sniper weapon.

And the obligatory graphicswhore screenshot ;)

Black mesa has amazing texture work, their artists really did a great job. And yeah, source can still look good and valve constantly improves it with new eye candy stuff. Black Mesa while it has its downsides it reminded me why FPS genre was my favourite for so many years and that FPS' games can still be FUN!

Is that game actually worth getting?
I hear far too many mixed things about it.

The atmosphere is nice and solving criminal cases is fun and engaging. Graphics are nice to look at and the game does have some nice tunes. The downside is combat which is pretty clunky and there's a lot of potion-chugging involved. Another annoyance is partial enemy respawn that feels out of place and makes things extra tedious. Walls of text are appreciated altough characters do suffer from that whole "encyklopedia-personality" thingy. The game also keeps crashing on me quite often (some color/graphical error aka red squares of doom).

My advice is that you should try out the "demo" version first. The game really is a mixed bag.
