I'll pirate it just so I have the files on my PC to reduce the amount Steam needs to download. Bastards not allowing us to preload. :?

I just realized the old PayPal email they have on file for me is no longer valid and will just bounce back whatever they send in. Woops. Guess I won't be playing it day one. Ah well.

I am no programmer but couldn't they just let you save at any time over a single file? I don't think it's that difficult to set up a button on the menu that let's you save your progress as if it were one of their "checkpoints", sure, multiple files would be a plus, but it's still way better than that.

Save functionality can get real complex real fast.

What's the deal with Europeans (and/or Scandinavians) and their apparent difficulty purchasing things via the Internet? This has been a trend for at least the last decade and change, and I still have no idea why.

I get that you lost your PayPal info, but don't you have credit cards? Or do you have weird European credit cards that most merchants won't accept? American adults with fewer than three major credit cards are shot on sight by the police under suspicion of communist leanings.

Online purchases are often tooled towards American mindsets, you provide a good example of it, the "everyone has a credit card" mindset. I never had a credit card until my recent trip to the US, why would I need one? In many EU countries many people do not have credit cards, especially young adults. That's why I backed some Kickstarters (like SR or PE) with PayPal instead, it's a much more internationally accessible system than Amazon Payments.

That said, I've been purchasing things via the internet for years. This was just a bit dopey of me; for some years I've used a separate email for PayPal for security reasons, one that simply forwards the mail to my main email. I've changed my paypal address since but my PayPal donations to SR and PE are filed under the old email, and I didn't even notice the host killed the email until today (since all it does is forward and I never used it for anything but PayPal). So it goes. Not a huge issue, I put in a support ticket with my payment information coz obviously I stored that, but I'd seriously doubt they have time for support tickets like those now.

If twitter is correct, some jerk cracked and leaked a review copy. If that's true, then fuck him for taking advantage of the developers' generosity to fuck them over. On the upside, I guess Harebrained learns a lesson in being more selective.

I just checked (Google and a few known warez sites) and there doesn't seem to be a leak apart from obviously fake stuff.

Credit cards themselves are a weird thing to have. I just use a debit card.
Yeah, I have a debit card, too.

Credit cards are largely useful for purchases that you can't/don't want to pay off that very instant using liquid funds actually sitting in a bank account, which is why so many people get into trouble with them.

Debit cards, everyone has. I dunno how it is in the US but even online purchases here are made the same way, via the "ideal" system, where you just wire the money straight from your bank account, no extra fees or anything. I order everything I buy in the Netherlands with ideal, and even Steam supports it. I'd much rather us it or PayPal for small purchases than my credit card, it just doesn't make sense to me to use a credit card for small purchases like those, which I would prefer to just pay straight away.

Standard US debit cards are issued by the bank with which you have the relevant checking account, but are typically tied to the network of Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, meaning they function almost exactly like a credit card for the process of making a purchase (the only difference I've noticed is the need to enter a PIN number at brick-and-mortar cash register systems).

Credit cards are part of the entire mindset of unlimited and careless consuming that lies at the root of the last crisis. They're shit and I for one am happy to see they're not as prevalent over here as in the Kwa.

Prepaid credit cards are getting more popular in Europe though.

I think the checkpoint system in SR sounds great, might discourage savescumming. Suck it haterz
The problem is that initial reports suggest that they placed the autosave triggers less then optimally.

There are legitimate reasons to have a credit card. Many of them let you earn points which you can trade in for either cash or stuff. They're also very handy to have for business expenses, since you typically hand in your receipts once per month and might not want or be able to cover them with your own cash. And of course, you'll earn free points with those expenses as well, tax-free :)

They're also a good way to build up a good credit record. Provided you use them responsibly.

We should beam these forum threads to the stars in radio waves, promote the idea among the galactic community that a true crpg is made by developers who don't wear white socks and one you should only be able to pay for using obscure payment methods.
