Though about posting in one of the "sales" threads, but decided to start a dedicated thread.

Indiegala is giving away the following.

Stalingrad: [Expired]
https://freebies.indiegala.com/stalingrad/

A RTS on the Blitzkrieg 1 engine centered around the great Eastern Front battle of the same name.
It was part of a series of third party made stand-alone expansions.
Seems to have been compared relatively positively with the original game.

7.62 High Calibre [Expired]
https://freebies.indiegala.com/762-high-calibre/

Russian Jagged Alliance clone but in RTwP.
Seems to have a "pretty good for what it is" reputation here on the Codex.

https://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.p...ain-total-eclipse-of-the-blue-sun-sslp.73893/

Seems to have been superseded by a Expansion/Mod made Official called "Hard Life" which comes as a bundled bonus purchase on Steam.
This expansion does not seem to be included in this giveaway, but getting the whole original game as basically a Free Demo might not be to shabby a deal...

Black Sect 2: The Cursed Crypt:
https://brocantygames.indiegala.com/black-sect-2-the-cursed-crypt-pnc-remake/

This is an English remake of the French graphic adventure game 'La Crypte Des Maudits', originally released (in 1991) for the Amstrad CPC in French language only by Lankhor.
Seems like something that might interest some people :) here...

All those Indiegala games come as DRM free downloads.

Also Ubisoft was giving away Rayman: Legends but it seems to have ended already.
But they will be giving away more stuff throughout this month.

New Indiegala Giveaway!

Cuban Missile Crisis: The Aftermath [Expired]

English Manual:

Another "Blitzkrieg 1 Engine Standalone Spin Off" RTS.
This time alt history about the Cold War going hot over Cuba.
The strongest countries fight each other and try to survive in the aftermath following the nuclear apocalypse.

Separate campaigns let you fight this out as the "Americans/British", "German/French", "Soviet Union", or "Communist Chinese".

Seem to recall reading that its rather janky due to trying implement features that a engine dedicated to simulating WW2 was not really able to pull off...

Itself has a same engine Standalone Expansion Called "Cuban Missile Crisis: Ice Crusade" which continues the story of the Post Nuclear War Universe.

“zoom-platform” seems to be a GOG competitor that arose from somewhere in the Nightdive Studios/Retroism/Prism/Ziggurat swamp of defunct game studio IP holding and reselling companies.
I have never heard of them before but they seem to be legit.

Add the game to your account.
Download it plus a bunch of extra goodies through the browser like in the early GOG days before "Downloaders" or "Galaxies".

Its also available for sale on GOG and Steam and seems to have a lot of performance issues.
The Zoom release maybe a more recent update or maybe its luck but I ran it fine on Windows 10.

It played like a really clunky doom clone with a roaring 20’s aesthetics and an feature of exploring a effectively open world island.
Still the shooting and especially the movement felt so awkward that I ended up feeling burned out and uninstalling after 2-3 hours of gameplay.

Honestly if you want a similar themed shooter play Blood (which is awesome), and more directly Realms of the Haunting.
In fact a good summery of the impression I got from Killing Time is basically a far less ambitions attempt to do what RotH pulled off when came out the same year.

I tend to agree with the assessment Ed123 in the review linked above.
Its an interesting experiment from the early FPS era of debatable value today.
Still for the price of nothing...

(Tagging udm and Luzur who seem to have been interested in this game in the past.)

Also Jazz:

:mca:

And a bit of trivia:
Turns out that "Burger" Heineman of Bards Tale fame was also the Lead Programmer on Killing Time.

Small additional note: the game was originally released on the 3DO and was effectively rebuilt for (rather than ported to) the PC. I'm not sure if it's even the same engine. Not a completely different game, exactly, but a different experience.

Yet another Blitzkrieg Engine spin-off on Indiegala.

A substantially different take on the Post Apocalypse then Cuban Missile Crisis.

Desert Law

They stripped down the strategic management and made it about controlling Mad Max style "Road Warrior Gangs".

It also seems rather less well received then the other spin-offs I posted above...
