SpellForce 3 + Soul Harvest & Fallen God standalone expansions

Kingmaker doesn't need that kind of hardware. It runs flawlessly (highest settings) on my RX460, 4GB RAM and like 10 year old CPU. Cyberpunk will probably lag on anything other than minimum settings, but I have had no interest in it once I found out you can't stealth through the entire game.

 

I think there is an option that makes the game pause when you use the skill wheel of your
heroes, instead of slow-motion. You can't give orders besides using skills, but it allows
you to get a look of whats going on to make your next move. The controls were
pretty good in my opinion.

 

But Kingmaker runs flawlessly on my 7 years old laptop.

 

So does on mine. Still if you upgrade,upgrade with the best so you could have good pc for the next decade. The next generation of consoles will be most likely the final tho,a good investment in 1080ti could last you till the card last. Anyway,i do like to have a decent pc if the need arise.

 

Kingmaker was a strange game, it runs great on some old potatoes and but poorly on some other top level computers.

Feels like you need to have a saving throw when play the game, the performance depends on your luck instead of your hardware.

 

Isn't Unity notoriously shit on higher end PCs? It's notoriously shit in general, but even more so.

 

It is all about the drivers and all that malware people instal on their comp. Everything runs fine on my drivers from 5 years ago.

 

I have the latest drivers and everything runs fine. It's about Unity being a piece of shit (especially on high end PCs) and needing extensive optimizations to not be shit, which most devs don't do.

 

On one hand, I am glad to have this thread being more active. On the other, I don't enjoy seeing it derailed.

We could talk about, you know, the actual gameplay of this game. But I haven't gotten to 3 yet, so I have nothing to say lol.

I'm playing them chronologically (well, except the garbage stand-alones of 2) and I've yet to finish 1. I got to a really dumb map in 1 where you have to control 4 points at the same time. I.e. build up defenses on 4 points which takes forever, it takes forever build up 1, let alone 4, so I haven't the desire to fire it up yet and do it. There's also no godmode cheat to skip this mission. I played the demo of 3 and I liked it, but I've already forgotten most of the my thoughts on it.

 

Kingmaker is not alone in this. Any game forum I enter on reddit you got bunch of people complaining it runs poorly on their new top hardware. Computers, drivers and software are more complex than we like to think.

Currently I'm playing the Soul Harvest expansion, and liking it. Is the base game's campaign worth playing? Should I go back to play it first then continue the expansion?

 

Didn't like the big twist of the story, but it has some pretty good side characters. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's more of the same.

 

Be sure to play it in German.

 

And miss out on the voice of Geralt? Heresy.

 

I am playing all of them in German, it's much better.

I hate Geralt's English voice so much, but I hate pretty much everything about him.

...that's not toxic masculinity. I just think he's very boring and has the personality of a glass of boiled water, but the issue is exacerbated by how overrated he, the books, and the games are.

 

Eh, I think that you're just being contrarian for the sake of it, but sure. I agree that he is quite bland in terms of personality, but that's justified in lore given that he's a witcher.

 

I do like being contrarian, but it's not that in this particular case. I suppose I can say he's a somewhat positive role model for easily impressed men, he isn't overly angry or aggressive, he protects those who can't protect themselves, and has healthy relationships with the women in his life. That's about it, though. I'd say this all stems from him being a gigantic bore that happens to coincide with the things he does.
