Dead or Alive Dimensions Is To Porn-ish For Sweden
May 19, 2011 at 1:09 PM - Jube - 10 Comments
Apparently some European gamers expecting to receive their copy of Dead or Alive Dimensions for 3DS tomorrow will have to live without their big boobed chick brawls. GAME & GameStop customers in Sweden have been receiving emails to inform them that sale of Dead or Alive Dimensions in the Nordic region has been banned due to child pornography laws. According to sources, the game's distributor, Bergsala, received a police threat and crumbled at the end of the long arm of the law. NeoGAF has a few added details:
Some random dude from the biggest message board in Sweden called Flashback, started a thread. Basically he goes out saying that three of the girls (Kasumi, Kokoro and Ayane) are violating the swedish child pronography law. The law says that if someone is picturing a girl under the age of eighteen, fictional or not, in a pornographic situation, that accounts for being child pornography. TS goes saying that it is the mode Showcase, which expose the gils by taking pictures and and zooming on their female counterparts, that will be the foundation of his report.

However! The purpose of this was not to stop the game from being sold, but to push the Swedish law regarding child pornography. There was recently a trial where a Swedish manga drawer was being accused for child pornography and charged, that has now resulted in a HUGE debate regarding this topic and the overprotective Swedish law. Nevertheless, the whole ideá backfired or someone else decided to jump the bandwagon and file this report before the game was even released (TS planed on filing the report on the day the game was released). TS had contacted the Swedish police in advance asking for feedback and wheather he should continue pursuing filing the report or not. The evidence was "lacking", since a girl under the age of eighteen in thongs is not porn was the Police's reply.

But appareantly that was enough to make the distributor stop the game from being sold not only in Sweden but also in Norway and Denmark. Retailers like GAME and GameStop are now one by removing the game from their websites and giving returns to customers that pree-ordered this.

Below you can view a live-action commercial for the game.

Why do I click youtube links when nine times out of ten I have to close them in ten seconds while doing the bridge-of-nose-pinch variation of the facepalm

Is it for sale in Canada?

yup. Which is odd, as Canada has an asshat cheif justice who openly says she's ignoring the explciitly written law and made that kind of stuff illegal.

That commercial looks awful. Those are the sort of commercials that make me very uncomfortable when they come on when I'm with my mom or friends or whatever. It gets all quiet and then someone asks me very quietly "Don't you play video games?"

Only people that wear Atlus T-shirts think these commercials are cool.

OH FUCK YOU SWEDEN!!!!

Now i was not going to buy the game, but i don't like the idea of censorship because the fucking weak ass pussy's up there in Sweden can't handle 17 Year old TITS!!!.
It seems is not actually banned, but it is a self censorship thing from some stores.

FUCK YOU SWEDEN!!!!
I can fuck 15 year olds, but OH no there is a 16 animated girl with giant tits.

It is about time we fucking invaded you pussys again!.

Observations from Mr. A. M. Horse:

1: Oh no, a shit game probably won't be sold in my country. How terrible.

2: Flashback. I don't have to say anything else.

Yeah, it's stupid, but so making a game for a market outside of Japan with overtly sexual characters under 18. The cost of changing the ages in the character profiles from 16 to 18 could easily be recouped by whatever sales they lost in Sweden.

It's funny how old teens are now "children".
You have to draw the line somewhere.

The law itself is retarded. How is the written age of a character at all relevant? They could just as easily write them up as 7000 year old ghosts or 3 year old androids. Or 70 year old women with really awesome plastic surgeons. Aside from that, why do fictional children have rights, but only the right to not be abused sexually? It's still ok to torture them in other ways? If it's about not promoting fantasies of crime against children, you'd have to include other stuff too, unless there's some sort of evidence that media only promotes sexual fantasies and not violent or ambitious ones.

Nothing but a bunch of political bullshit some old geezer used to get votes under the flag of protecting children at the expense of people's freedoms and the efficacy of the justice system.
