There's a Gothic 3 "community" patch on the way and JoWood have released a teaser trailer. Yes. For a patch. They made a movie. Here's the release:

Dear Community,

The Community Patch Team is working for a long time on Patch 1.7 for Gothic 3 now.
It has also been a long while since the last material has been disclosed to you.

Therefore we though that it's about time again to show you some stuff!

Now a mini-teaser is available showing you some new and highly confidential scenes from the current version of the patch. Watch and listen carefully!

The first who posts all newly shown features will get the post who is the first stating all the newly shown features! Great!

According to posts, multiple enemies will now attack you at once, weapon sounds have been added and there are new feats. I haven't played Gothic 3, so that lets me say: What did they do, release an unfinished pile of shit?

Gothic 3 was a good game but had horrendous performance and bugs.

I'm a bit peeved about there being a trailer for a patch. Is there a changelog? I don't want to sit through a trailer to know what the patch fixes.

Even worse.
They released an unfinished pile of shit that was full of bugs, unbalanced, heavy as three Oblivions, with a non-existent combat system, and with other minor problems. At full price.

Now you're being mean. The weapon sound (when drawing your weapon) was a feature of Gothic 1+2 that may well have been purposefully omitted in G3, but many fans complained about it.
There are no new feats visible.

Why, are you an idiot? Don't answer that.

There is no changelog as the patch isn't released yet.

So does this patch make the game good?
Nobody knows. As Claw said, they haven't actually bothered to release a list of fixes. All we have is a video.

Worst patch announcement ever.

i would rather they fixed the lag/memory leak that would just pop up regardless of how robust a system you have , stun lock and animations particularly getting stuck in a cave wall or going waste deep into solid ground.
Sword drawing audio/sound effect can take a back seat.

Damn guys, let this game die. These Gothic 3 threads are more annoying than Diablo 3 ones. Absolutely every thread about Gothic 3 deals with performance and bugs, never about actual gameplay, storytelling and such.

Well that's a problem because Gothic 3 isn't fun to begin with and we already have so little to talk about and just shut up ok?

As far as I remember the guys who are developing Gothic 4 contributed some engine fixes to lessen/get rid of the memory leaks which seem to have plagued a lot of people. I guess it was a goodwill gesture to establish a positive relation to the Gothic community which was probably less than thrilled that the lead developer changed. Anyway, if you wade through some older topics you'll find even a topic/news item dedicated to this particular set of fixes.

Well, adding to the pile of subjective experiences with Gothic 3: My girlfriend, who finished both Gothic 1 and 2 (with NotR), stopped playing the game after the Myrtana section because it "dragged on" without enough interesting content to warrant the time investment.

OK, will they at least say when they're gonna stop releasing patches so I can start playing this damn game?

Isn't this the final patch? I wonder if they fixed the bug which prevented me from playing after I upgraded my RAM.

I wonder how being attacked by multiple foes will work with the combat system? I foresee much whining about being slaughtered repeatedly in cities or by bandits.

I have to defend Piranha Bytes on this one. They tried to stem this game with fewer than 20 people. That rocks.

On the other hand, you have to be lunatic, or some other kind of weird, to even try that.

Anyway, I will probably try G3 again once the thing is released an tested. Probably I won't quit the game this time.
But... more enemies at once... doesn't that mean that the already luck based combat system will become even more impossible to play? o.O
Or will it come together with the new combat system from the addon?
