Oh FUCK YOU VD. I've been playing this game for 30 minutes now, and I haven't met a SINGLE NPC that I can romance and pretend to fuck!!! Games are supposed to be escapist fantasies, where I can do things that I'd never be able to do in real life, like have sexual intercourse! What the fuck do you expect me to do? Watch porn? Read a book? Spend 2 goddamn hours putting up with 'themes' and 'character-based drama' to get to the sexy bits in Lady Chatterley's Lover?
Fuck, I even considered replaying PS:T - I mean the whole Annah/FFG thing isn't really romance either, obviously, because they didn't have the technology to do sex scenes like they can today, but at least there's skimpy outfits. Can't bring myself to replay it though - all that stuff about Annah's feelings for TNO being her curse of torment makes my chest feel funny (I'm sure it's angina, but it makes my eyes all watery and shit). But at least THAT had a happy ending, with FFG promising to spend the rest of her existence searching for the TNO. Obviously they couldn't make the hot sex scene that should follow after she finds him, but at least it's obvious that everyone's happy in the end, and doesn't imply that TNO is some kind of bleak curse upon those who care for him, or any of that gay shit. That's not romance, that like's that shit Shakepeare wrote - poetry. And who the fuck likes moody poetry? Not teenagers, that's for sure.
You know, because I'm a hardcore crpg player, with multiple play-throughs of every Bioware game after Jade Empire, I could almost forgive this bullshit. Except for two things. Firstly, you could have marketed this as its own maths-sim, but no, you had to call it a crpg just to ride on Bioware's coat-tails.
But WORSE, you had the fucking temerity to use the name VD throughout the entire hype period. WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING using a name like Venereal Disease and not including ONE SINGLE romanceable NPC! Don't you think it's misleading? Have you no respect for the genre? FOR YOUR FANS???
