That is a limitation of the Torque engine, not an oversight.

I vote for Darth Roxor to do a review as it seems he's the only one that always make edgy reviews and is predisposed to think like me, even though he doesn’t know shit about the game.

Fixed for accuracy.

Already arguing against a non existent review with character assassinations and claims of ineptitude. Fantards never change.

So I guess you can do jack shit as a loremaster with alchemy as a spare time hobby.
Roleplaying this I felt useless like Avellone trying his photomodel build in Arcanum.
Definitely a viable archetype. Not the easiest nor the most optimal build to make but I'm pretty sure it should be possible to finish the game as such a character.

But as with any specific hybrid build - you need to really understand the game and know how the world/quests work before succeeding in making it work.

Darth Roxor review will be fair. If it causes butthurt drama again, so be it. I can already see all those posters with a bigger post % in ITS forums than in Codex forums (not enough Codex street cred) going bonkers over it. It will be glorious.

In this game you either make a beefed up build centered around combat (which is not viable at the start either way because fighting more than 1 is suicide) or a build with streetwise/impersonate/persuasion. anything between is shit.

In my case, at the mining outpost trying to complete the main quest:

1. dress like a loremaster which I am --> lore check --> persuasion check of GTFO
2. managed to kill the supplier --> spiked the wine with poison ( alchemy success because I am also an alchemist) ---> streetwise & impersonate check or GTFO

Arena Champion is a tough bitch to kill.
Nearly can't block anything ever with 9 block, can't survive pass 3rd turn because of that and poison.

Going back to old tactic "Throwing Net + Neurostimulant + Berserk potion"

Finally kill that fucker at 2nd turn.

The Arena is piss-easy with a ranged character though. Stock up on bola's and net's and you don't have to worry about any of the 1vs1 fights.

I bought loremaster robe, put it on but it did not seem to help, I failed the check anyway (maybe not enough in impersonation?)

You can either pose as a loremaster with high impersonate or you can be an actual loremaster and get in that way.

"Some players might like this brutality, arguing that it’s an RPG and it reflects a harsh world. That’s great, and I would generally include myself in this group, but where AoD compounds its ability to frustrate is it’s lack of clarity. Thinking that I could sneak into a townsperson’s house using a grappling hook, I found myself unable to do so because I failed a skillcheck using the throw skill. That a thief may need this skill is unintuitive and not flagged anywhere"

"Trial and error is no way to have an RPG run. It just frustrates players and hiding behind a ‘this game is tough’ tagline doesn’t make up for poor game design."

Yes, that "1 star" review was from back in 2013. Been near the top of AoD Google search results ever since.

Plummeting in steam top sellers, staying strong on gog. Still, it had to sell at least 5k copies total during those two days, right?

I don't work in PR or ITS so I really do not care.Talking to spewing drivel RPS readers should be punishable offense.

Do you think I would care if they were a medium or big established studio? No. I work for incline. The thing is, I think that when Underrail is going to be released, I will do the same thing. It is all about focus, bra.

Just noticed something in my loading screen:

'Super VGA driver detected. Changing colour from 8 bit to 16 bit'

WHAT THE FUCK????

How did you even FIND a computer without Super VGA?

I complained about this years ago and complained about this in the last weekend. They didn't change.

The worst thing is that the game doesn't even look any different when it "changes colour". It seems like all the graphics in the game are made in 8-bit and the 16-bit notification is just there to make the game seem "modern".
