That GFWL shit on the cover simply ruins it completly.... both technically and visually.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Souls-Prepare-Die-Edition/dp/B007X1458W/

Retail version "only" requires GFWL and comes with some additional shit, dno why someone would get the Steam version:

This is the "Limited Edition" (more expensive one), normal comes without the gadgets, but stiill with the additional "Prepare to Die" content (basically a free DLC).

There is no "Limited Edition" for PC, only the "Prepare to Die Edition" for ~40€ and only sold throughout Europe and it contains all of that, that's why I linked Amazon directly too, it even says right there on the page:

In box physical content:

  • A stunning 150 page Art Book (featuring art from the new Artorias of the Abyss game content)
  • Original Soundtrack CD
  • DVD containing the complete behind the scenes video series
  • Poster
  • Postcards

Predicting this won't even work at an acceptable framerate on my computer, and I can play virtually any other game I've tried.

The main problem with the game's beginning is that Undead Burg isn't particularly exciting and if you don't know what you are doing you can spend an eternity there, walking back and forth.

But they lack the je ne sais quoi, the soul if you will, that even horribly misguided western trainwrecks such as skyrim occasionally shows a glimmer of.

:retarded:
Gonna print this out and put it on my wall.

Yeah. Bee makes some good points. My previous response to her was a misguided attempt at bad humor on my part.

I thought you were mimicking profeshnul game reviewers. "Yeah this shit is bad but I can't tell you why, have some metaphors instead"

Well, that and there is no other version aside from the Steam version. The game requires Steamworks to run regardless of where it's purchased.
No it doesn't xD
It requires GFWL though, only in Kwa-land there's no Retail version but in Europe there is.

"Limited Edition" (notice the quotes) is called Prepare To Die Edition and contains the "stuff". All editions give You access to additional content (something Abyss something DLC).

So, it requires GFWL, but in FREEDOMLAND the only way to get it is... through steam. Amazing marketing decision here.

Still, at least the devs have been totally upfront about it not being a good port and they have priced it accordingly. Compare to most ports where the devs proudly proclaim that they let you adjust the mouse sensitivity and are greeted with blowjobs of admiration.

Is 10x harder than any popamole AAA game, but nothing more than that. it requires you to be focused, never let your guard down and be pacient. You'll die A LOT on the first hours, but as you learn the game it becames very simple; I died like 30 times with my first character trying to reach & kill the second boss, but on my second character I killed him without a single death.

It seems to have a lot of surprise rape, I already ruined some stuff for me like mimics so I stopped watching videos.

Yeah, the mimics are probably the biggest trolls in the game... once you know it's easy to spot then, but sometimes you just when through a tough room, evaded some traps and want to collect you glorious prize...just be die and be extremelly butthurted.

I'm really curious to see how hard this really is.

Depends what you mean by hard. It demands that you understand enemies and bosses to defeat them, and prudence is advised when exploring new areas else you have many deaths. However there are no maneuvers in the game that demand gamepad/keyboard jockeying skill of some higher order (nothing like jump canceling in DMC3 or HSK-lock in God Hand), and none of the enemies throw attacks at you that require frame-perfect dodging (they aren't Alma or Liz from Ninja Gaiden). If you build and play your character well, you won't encounter too many deaths. Just don't expect to kill most bosses on your first try. I only bagged maybe 30% of them on my initial scrap with them.

btw are loot drops and chest contents randomized or hand-placed?
