3-shotted badass Taurus Demon by exploiting the environment and it didn't even feel cheap because the game seems to encourage creativity instead of taking mobs head-on. Felt awesome, especially since I could collect my 2k souls from the previous failed attempt. Undead burg overall is more fun and evidently better suited for beginners than stupid skeleton graveyard. Good game, getting better the deeper you delve into it. If only controls weren't so infuriating.

Is anyone playing this with mouse and keyboard and finding it enjoyable and playable?

Depends on your endurance to badly implemented controls. I've only played it for 10 minutes, the key layout is fucked up but the mouse handling was kind of acceptable, it could be worse. Don't remove it from an inventory and give it a try.

But is it possible to beat the game with such controls, as this games seems to put emphasis on "action-y" things like dodging, drinking potions etc.?

Using only keyboard is a lot better than k+m, just so you get an idea of the experience. Funny enough you can bind keypad even though you can't bind normal numeric keys.

Can anyone that uses x360ce with a PS2/PS3 controller tell me if I'm nuts? It seems like the button sticks (L3) and start/select are reversed. So I have to press select to lock on instead of the L3 stick button. And the start button is the right stick button. I tried changing the configuration around and no matter what it won't change in game: select button is always the lock on button. Maybe it's because it's late and I'm sleepy as hell but I can't figure the problem out for the life of me. Needless to say it's almost impossible to play this way.
I'm having the exact same problem that you have plus the right stick axises are swapped.

May be if I change the difficulty settings to easy I can get my controller to work :smug:

Playing with keyboard, works fine

You're all faggots, stop playing these games, do something else with your time

Took a Knight. More like, an Asshole Knight. This is my class, Asshole Knight. I kill everyone I meet. Good loot? Shit, I'll make a lot of friends

I don't know if this was discussed before... Has anyone bought the game in a country that GFWL doesn't support and does the game work?

OK so the consensus so far seems to be the controls suck, but how about the graphics? Final version if anyone has it, not the demo. Because they're pretty terrible on the PS3 version. I mean even by Pureisuteshon standards.

I would say it's feasible, yes. It takes some time getting used to it but it's not the worst control scheme ever.

Out of the box? Dogshit. With resolution fix? Pretty good. The main problem is that there are a lot of really low res textures next to a lot of really high res textures. Items tend to look good but some other things, like trees, are laughably horrible. Mostly the environment seems to have these problems, the differences in texture sizes were almost unnoticeable until you increased the resolution and removed the consoletard blur.

Also DoF is a horrible travesty, but the guy who made the resolution fix is looking into modding it out.

Playing this with DSfix + 360 pad = GOTY.
Pretty much. It was great on the Xbawks already, now in 1080p and without lag on Bligthtown is pure gold. Now I just need to see the new areas, itens and bosses... I just rang the second bell and still haen't found anything new...

I might too, eventually. For now I still need to finish the FagStation 3 version first. Got bored after the 23448186876th time I died at that stupid fucking giant stampeding rat thing you get to right after dying 92341234 times at the stupid Taurus Demon.

It's easy with mouse, when you know where your character would attack, otherwise...
On the other hand, weapon types are different in this game. Swords feels different than clubs, or spears.

btw is the game really that hard or its just stupid consoletards bitching?

It kills you if you are stupid, and if you die a second time without returning to your body then you lose all unspent XP. Also you are allowed to go into harder areas early on and get raped (or win if you are good).

So you can see how consoletards would massively overstate the difficulty, as there is the potential to lose more than 10s of progress if you screw up. It is decently difficult though.

I just played it for a half an hour. Bros, it's painful. Playing with a gamepad is like playing with my left hand on the mouse. I last used a gamepad when I played NBA2k and PES a couple of years ago. I have to constantly think which button does what (shoulder buttons being attack/defense doesn't help), so any flow and dodging in combat is really hard to pull off. Playing it with K+M feels decent at first, until you realize it's so horribly implemented that gamepad is the only choice.

FOV is terrible. Can you "zoom out" a bit? I have to constantly adjust the camera to see anything, which would not be a problem using the mouse, but using the gamepad means I have to constantly switch between camera controls and using the buttons to actually do "stuff" in the game.

I could play a "slow" class and learn to use the gamepad, but I think I'll just wait for someone to fix the K+M controls. I don't feel like torturing myself with learning consoltard control schemes. Here's hoping that Jade Raymond has her way and controllers revert to 2 buttons + D-pad. That would make any games requiring "complex" controls not suitable for consoles and make the superior K+M controls default for all "real" games.

No trace of consoltard corruption here :smug:

Oh, and Twitcher2 > this piece of console trash. At least Twitcher looks good and I can twitch roll control Geralt like a sir, not like some console peasant.

Totally. If you go into this game and expect to just AWESOME through it Mass Effect or Gears of War herpa derp-style, and you've become impatient due to playing too many such games, as I did, you will get raped. It really is important to pay attention to your character build and weapons/equipment, as well as the strategy you use for defeating each type of enemy and especially bosses. It's frustrating but also rewarding. You just need to focus and actually PLAY the game, which is what makes it so good. It's not a storyfag or graphicswhore game, it's all about the gameplay.

Consoletards would bitch that it's impossible though. The shop where I got my PS3 copy told me I can't get a refund if it's too difficult because a lot of people have come in all butthurt about it.

I'm always amused by you ubermenschen and your inability to master a 12-button plus sticks control scheme. I guess keyboards will have to change to this in the future to accomodate you...
