Keep playing, you'll find out later on. This is one of the few parts of the story you actually get your face shoved into.
ok so it's unrelated to me killing the other keeper?

I've just lost 6 humanity to the bell gargoyles and I can't play online as I pirated it, is there a decent way to get humanity back outside of online?
Not really. You either find it as an item or some enemies occasionally drop humanity, such as giant rats, three of which spawn under the bridge with the red dragon. Later on you can join a covenant that gives you an item that lets you steal humanity from npcs.

-Edit
Sometimes you'll be given humanity for killing enough enemies in areas where you have yet to defeat the zone's boss. Takes a while tho.

Hahaha. My Dark Souls buddy is gonna shit. I remember him talking about getting his ass handed to him by capra demon when he was playing on console, he was getting furious at how much he was getting killed. I just bumbled into capra demon while exploring the lower level of undead burg and killed him my first time. Probably toughest fight I've had so far though, burned through my healing.

The kicker to humanity farming is that humanity is what improves your drop rates. No humanity = bad farm chances.

farm rats in the depths (plenty of them near the bonfire there), baby skellies in the tomb of giants (they respawn constantly without the need to go to a bonfire), or those "humanity sprite things" in the new dlc area (chasm of the abyss). the 1st option is the earliest, although it has the lowest drop rate, 2nd is the easiest

re: capra, since i've seen it mentioned a couple of times in this topic: have you guys noticed that in the pc version as soon as you enter the fog your rushed by only one and not 2 dogs? i've tried it 2-3 times in co-op and twice on my save and it's always only one dog rushing at the start, unlike the 2 cunts in the console version :/

That's somekind of a relief, although I'm afraid farming them would leave me with a shitton of souls and thus make the game much easier because of being overleveled.

Are the droprates related to humanity only or you have to be in human form AND have a good a mount of humanity to get good drops?

only humanity (but there's also a ring and a headpiece that boost drop rates even further [the ring is a treasure roughly 1/3 into the game, the headpiece is a rare random drop from a relatively rare enemy], but they don't stack, although there's also a ring that boosts souls "drop rate" and it stacks with the headpiece... beware, the headpiece drains something like 20hp/sec). don't worry about souls and overlevelling... there's pleeeenty of stuff you can buy so you'll be quite often out of souls ;)

Serious question, why does the game look so sharp and good in your screenshot?

You're using the resolution fix right?
http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=127

If you are, and if you configured it for your resolution in the .ini and it still doesn't sharpen up I don't know what to tell you. I'm not doing anything weird apart from that.

Edit: Another capra demon picture I took when I wasn't completely sure I was gonna win.

Reading this thread makes me want to fire up the game again. I quitted at exactly the same Capra Demon, I just couldn't kill it, neither could I kill the Red Dragon in the Undead Burg or that guy with the huge hammer. Got stuck in this forest aswell fighting some golems after I obtained a new armor. I guess I just suck at this game. :( But it is fun nonetheless.

I know people will mock me, but I can't play this game for much long because the atmosphere is very oppressive. This is actually pretty good, but it makes me feel uneasy at times.

Good game.

Speaking of Capra Demon...

Guess I was lucky with the guy; only took 5 tries. Stray demon on the other hand took like 20. Guess I was really underleveled for it.

I don't have the PC version but let me tell you, it looks far superior to the PS3 one. Nice! Thanks, modders.

Damn, I love the armor and weapon design in this game.

Also, sweet jesus the Abyss Greatsword is the coolest thing ever. You can get it by going to Giant Blacksmith and combing +10 greatsword with soul of Artorias. Even lets you do those powerful flip and spin slashes the boss used.

Agreed, it's really well done for the most part. Visual design of the enemies, too. And whoever designed the "Dungeon"/game world deserves big props. I'm not sure if it's actually all a (Mostly) seamless connected lump or if there are hidden teleports in there. Like does the elevator from the church actually take you straight down to the hub world or is there a tricksy part where it flips.

Whatever the case, the look of the game and the layout of the world is really great.

My mage build is playing sweet. Enemies without shields die in 1 or 2 spells. Enemies with shields are hurt, staggered, and without any stamina. Meanwhile, I've switched over to my magical dualhanded claymore and have a full stamina bar to have at them.

I would say that in my 15 or so attempts to kill this fucker, half the time both dogs were rushing to me from the beginning of the fight. It was too random for my taste and i'm glad that it was the only fight for now that was somewhat luck dependent (I'm just outside the Blightown after killing Gaping Dragon and butterfly thingy in the gardens).

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. My favorite is the two-handed forward flip jump slash. Clears a good distance, is fast, and hits hard as fuck. I slayed Seath the Scaleless in under 30 seconds with this thing.

Man, this DLC is fantastic and totaly worth it! The forest is a bit meh, but the corrupet town is great, and the Abyss is outstanding, From Software level & creature design shines again, with unblockable enemies and block breaking spells.

I really like how they make you fear enemies, making stuff like a huge hall with a guy clearly standing in the middle of it... you know that guy is gonna be tough:

And I especially liked:

Seeing Sif there, being protected by the shield, very nice touch.

Only complain is the retarded name of the boss... calling MANUS a big-handed demon, really? Also, him and the dragon are raping my ass and I have no idea what to do...

Yeah the capra demon is a pretty shitty fight since it'll largely boil down to what attacks the fucker ends up using. In quarters that small you can't possibly avoid all the shit and observe him, and some of the moves he has will completely fucking wreck you.

There's one other fight that is rather luck based later on, and it's even more of a crock of shit. But still, only 2 fights out of like 2 dozen.

Playing though again with a rapier this time. Sucks as badly as I remembered. Fucking nightmare against anything that can block or parry and pretty much anything with poise too... so like 80% of things in the game. Well, soon I'll get some pyromancy and that can tide me over until the endgame when I get the spells I need for this to work.

Yeah, it's pretty effective. No silly shit like enemies boasting how powerful they are and how badly they're going to fuck you up (Diablo 3). In Dark Souls they simply do it without a word, just standing there not moving a muscle, silently daring the player to come try and fuck with them. It's amazing how quickly it can get the anxiety going.
