I beat it with a 2-Hander; the shields were just for the passive bonuses. I beat False King Allant with only 1 item equipped in my 4 slots: a +9 Claymore.
Weirdly enough, it was pretty darn easy for me. I blame Dark Souls: I knew how to dodge well and always kept my equip weight 1/4th of my maximum load. Plus, I never wore any heavy armor to help with that.

I just finished the game, but I missed so much: I never met Yuria or Biorr. I don't know what the Old One was... or why he is a gigantic... ... bramble? What the hell is he?
The game makes you ask many questions, but only leaves you with more questions. Very mysterious. Highly recommended if you have a PS3 and like Dark Souls.

Edit: I am so badass, I beat Dark Souls using a 2H club (and 2-handing it) as well. YEAAAH.

What was the hardest boss in Demon's Souls for you? I'm kind of curious what someone who's played Dark Souls first thinks of Demon's souls. I found Dark Souls very easy too because I had already learned the combat from Demon's Souls. I think I died like 300 times on my first playthrough of Demon's Souls. I guess it doesn't matter what order you play the games in. Once you're familiar with the combat system and encounters it becomes easy.

I think the old one was some kind of ultimate demon or evil that fed on souls and created demons to collect them for him and possibly consume not just souls but the world itself. That's why the world was being consumed or erased by fog.

You're gonna laugh, but Flamelurker took me the longest; I must have died 7 times or so to him, and getting to him was a bitch. Three or four times for Maneater. Everyone after and before that, including Allant, was easy because I could just rely on my dodging skills that I got by then.

Dark Souls was way harder for me. That's where I got all my skills from to use in this game. I managed to beat most bosses on the first try.

Nah. I thought Flamelurker was the hardest boss in DS. I probably died on Allant more my first playthrough though, but Flamelurker is more unpredictable and as he takes more and more damage he starts attacking more quickly and doing more damage, so he can break your through your shield and kill you pretty easy.

Did you ever find Yurt and what happened with him? He's the guy in a cage.

I found him, freed him, noticed there was a massacre at the Nexus when I got back and then killed him to avoid him "killing the Firekeeper", if you know what I'm saying. Then I did jobs for Mephisto, but stopped after she told me to kill Biorr- 'cause I couldn't find Biorr.

Final boss in Dark Souls was soooo much harder for me than Demon Souls (Allant). Funny how I fought both the same way: dodge, dodge, SMASH, dodge.

Yeah I liked the fact that most of the bosses in Dark Souls were straight up brawls, too many of the demon soul's bosses ended up being too gimmicky for my taste(Boss can't see? Use stealth ring hurrrr). Maneater and Flamelurker were definite highlights though. I died more often in Dark souls even though I had played Demon soul's before. Most of those were fall deaths but still.

:yeah:

Also killed Ornstein and Smough without dying once, mostly because the random person I summoned was apparently a super wizard and used DARK SORCERIES to win the fight. I assisted with my +5 black knight sword a little but the magic did 99% of it.

Oh man you guys are interested in the Old One, you should try and get the Talisman of Beasts (or just read a spoiler). The implications of its description will blow your minds! I think I liked the background story and mythology of Demons' Souls a bit better than Dark Souls just because of that.

Yeah, for that reason I never summoned on bosses (other than the NPC summons, which was more an OCD completionist decision). I didn't want to miss out.

Playing online makes the game easy-mode, summoning NPC phantoms is easy-mode, using certain weapons is easy-mode... looks like you have to play naked at lvl 1 to make this game actually challenging lol. :commie:

Well, some NPC phantoms are easymode (fucking Beatrice man, holy shit) but others are just somewhat helpful. And you can easily be in a situation where the fight would be nigh impossible without them otherwise, and is extremely difficult even with them.

Now, summoning a PC phantom is different. While another player of your level is fine, you can also get massively overpowered people using top end gear that rape shit.

The black knight weapons I think are actually pretty bullshit though. The only balancing factor to them is the really shitty heavy attacks, which are often a death sentence f you use them accidentally while trying to do a jump attack.

I never used Beatrice, was she that powerful? I found the NPCs I did use ended up aggroing the boss enough that I could take a decent chunk of their health bar before the NPC died (which is decently helpful). My assumption when summoned on bosses was that the host had trouble in prior attempts and wanted some help, so I generally wouldn't hesitate to get cheesy as hell. (Iron Skin before nerf, followed by pyro spam was guaranteed win on Super Ornstein)

I never had a Black Knight drop in my first playthrough, so I guess I got lucky in an unlucky kind of way. Although I think lightning weapons, especially at lower levels are pretty overpowered too since normal enemies generally didn't have much lightning resistance and no stat scaling is necessary.

I kept my equip weight <25% for almost the entire time in Demon's Souls because I played Dark Souls first, and now I read that <50% would have been enough.

Fucking Blighttown! Made it all the way to the bottom and got all items, the eagle shield is pretty nice. That level is good, but laggy and SO big.. When I cleared all the enemies in the swamp I saw three guys carrying Rocks overhead, guarding what appears to be the endbosses lair. So I decided to look for the second bonfire, used that "lift" but got thrown down a ledge by those bullshit flies and died, ragequitted. FFFFUUUU

The beauty of it is that everything is easy mode if you are experienced and nothing is if you are not.

I never used Beatrice, was she that powerful?

She changes moonlight butterfly from a fight that requires good dodging and potentially a few minutes of ranged combat to a fight that requires you to wait approximately 15s while she murders an insect. She takes like 20-30% of its health off per spell. It feels like a cheat but the only way to get her in 4 kings is to use her there ...

My brother bought for me Dark Souls for the PC today as a birthday gift. Game works absolutely fantastically. Aside from some initial problems with GFWL (no surprises there), it works very smoothly. Feels fun to play such an energetic DaS again what with all the new and old people bustling about. Decided to try something new and so I'm playing a Miracle based warrior; I even joined the Sunbro covenant. I want to make the most out of jolly co-op this time since I previously played DaS and DS as a recluse. Will be good to try and co-op with my friends and bro too. Anyway, I'm still thinking about what weapon I should use. The most obvious choice seems to just pick something and upgrade it into a Divine weapon, but that seems dull. I just can't seem to find any good or even just decent "unique" faith based weapons that would fit my Paladin persona.

Grant is supposed to be one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Though it's requirements are bonkers.

Barring that, get a normal weapon and get the sunlight blade spell. Very powerful weapon enchant miracle, totally sunbro themed.

I suggest a Claymore or Zweihander! Paladins with big swords are badass. You'll be like that guy in BG2 with the blood-splatter portrait.

Edit: Man, I gotta go play Demon's Souls NG+ now. Gotta try out magic and shit! Love the games.
