The BG3 topic got derailed(again) and people are asking about arcane magic on KoTC2.

The main difference of casters in KoTC 2 general and 3rd Edition is that casters cast spells like Spontaneous casters. As Pink Eye said :

Differences can be found here. The coolest change is how spell slots work. Instead of every spell having its own slot. It's now that each group of spells all consume a slot. So, for example, level one spells will all have a limited amount of casts per day. So if you cast sleep, you're using up slots for the other level one spells as well. This is pretty good, because you don't have to deal with memorizing individual spells. This allows you to naturally get access to more spells. Another thing is that it makes it simple to organize them on the menu.

Many people ask "but what about Sorcerers and Warlocks"?

They are also very different on KoTC2. Warlocks are Wizards/Psions and Sorcerers, Wizards/Clerics.

Heroic fantasy - SORC said:
Sorcerers are spellcasters of unsurpassed brilliance. Such is the extent of their knowledge that they have access to both the divine and arcane magic domains.

Heroic fantasy - Warlock said:
Warlocks are wizards who have also developed innate psionic abilities. This unique combination gives the Warlock a clear edge in the realm of offensive magic.

One of the biggest downsides of SORCERER/WARLOCK is that takes more time to get high level magic for then, since they need to master two forms of magic. A Warlock only gets 9th tier magic on lv 19. While a Wizard gets on the 17th level. The feats which you can get with this classes are also different. A Warlock can for example, pick the Armoured Casting and cast on armor. A Wizard can't and is stuck on dresses robes.

The mythos of the world is also different.
The Five Moons of Mindrel said:
"It is said that in the dawn of time, Thorgrum, God of Rocks and Mountains, created Mindrel using raw materials from the elemental planes of fire, earth, water and air. Once his task was done, some surplus material remained. This surplus material is now known as the five Moons of Mindrel."

The five moons can be used as source of a type of magic :
  • Phoenix, the Red Moon - Evocation
  • Juron, the Green Moon - Alteration/Transformation
  • Meril, the Blue Moon - Enchantment
  • Solann, the White Moon - Conjuration
  • Nocturnis, the Black Moon - Necromancy
An Wziard can be attuned to a moon or be a cosmic wizard. It allows the wizard to pass a ascension at lv 15 and for example, become a construct(green moon) or a Lich(black moon). A Wizard attuned to Nocturnis is a Black/Dark wizard, a Wizard attuned to Phoenix is a Red Wizard and so on. Wizards can also be attuned to the cosmos, ie - cosmic wizards. Being attuned to a moon increases the DC of a set magical school, allows you to increase the range of certain spells and learn spells as a one level bellow. Green Wizards for example can cast Disintegrate as a 5th circle spell instead of 6th circle spell. Sorcereres can get transformations, but Warlocks can't and the benefits of attenument for sorcerers are lesser than for wizards. Certain races also works differently than on 3E and can have impact on spellcasting. With min and max attributes

Monks get a bunch of innate abilities. Such as built in blur:

The class is pretty nicely implemented. Pierre has plans to give it spell like abilities - similar to the monk kits from Icewind Dale and in Pathfinder.

But what about Monks and other martials.

Barbarians will pass a revamp. I wish that Barbarians get some nasty abilities like decapitate.

Monks, the info can be seem here > https://www.heroicfantasygames.com/FWE/Pages/FWE_Monk.htm IS extremely powerful with his bare hands and Pierre will give SLA to him.

There is also a Gladiator class which gains Blinding Strike and proficiency with oversized weapons among other things https://www.heroicfantasygames.com/FWE/Pages/FWE_Gladiator.htm
