Gothic is pretty much an (extremely atmospheric and well-done) action-RPG. But go play Arcanum! OMG HEAVAN.

Oh and don't click Lyric Suite's link above. Pretty sure it's tubgirl.

Tubgirl is a necessary rite of passage for this forum. What kind of faggot would put a stop to this wonderful and very much necessary tradition?

Why do you forget goatse?

Well, shockporn aside, welcome to the Codex. You have the right mentality to fit right in.
I'll also have some games to recommend.

Arcanum [best shit ever, my favourite RPG of all time. You MUST play it.]

Daggerfall [Since you like Morrowind you should really check out its predecessor.]

Wizardry 8. If you like good turn based combat goodness, play Wizardry 8. And Wizardry 7, although that is one of the hardest games ever. If you want even more challenge, play Wizardry 4. I don't think anyone here completed it. Ever. Also, play the whole Wizardry series just for completeness.

If you like Wizardry but it's too hard, try Might and Magic. It's basically the same, only a bit easier and less complex. Still some great old school goodness. Play all of them, but forget 9. 9 is an abomination. 8 is okay, but 3 till 7 are the best of the series.

Icewind Dale is also a nice dungeon crawl with the Baldur's Gate engine.

Then, be sure to get Temple of Elemental Evil. And VtM: Bloodlines. They're made by the same guys who made Arcanum. Troika were RPG gods, so you must play all their games. Especially Arcanum, nothing beats Arcanum.

Then, of course, play all Ultimas until 7. And the Ultima Underworlds.

And then check out www.the-underdogs.info and www.abandonia.com for old DOS-games. You'll find lots of RPG goodness there.

Also, checking out Roguelikes wouldn't hurt either.

Look for ADOM and Dwarf Fortress for some good stuff.
Dungeon Crawl is also a good one, and it has graphics.

God, I hate the face expression of that black haired girl in the back. It makes me want to kick her in her stupid face. Bitch.

I think everybody on that picture looks stupid.

But once the girls become Game Producers and she lets me lick her pussy, I'll gladly become her bitch! It's how the industry really works today!

Maybe she'll make a second Arcanum and a second Planescape then, both true to their predecessors i nsetting, story and RP, if we lick her pussy and crawl across the ground clad in leather while she swings her whip at us.

actually, the wii is great for parties. the party part is predicated on you actually having friends, some of whom may or may not be hot chicks. your mileage may vary.

Hatchet to genitals, Goatse, the Pain series, guys chopping off their cocks, trust me when I say I've seen pretty much everything the Internet has to offer in terms of pornographic strangeness.

Strangeness aside, I'll definitely check out the suggestions, after I finish my newest torment run through I believe I'll check out Arcanum, everyone here really seems to have enjoyed it.Hell, maybe I'll just skip my torment run through, I could use something new and exciting. I did enjoy the Ice Wind Dale series, maybe that's just because of the engine and combat though.

Either way, thanks everyone.

Yes, Arcanum is one of the greatest RPGs ever. But be warned it has some flaws - the combat sucks and the balancing... could be better. Everything else is awesome.

Arcanum it is then, I just ordered it. Sucky combat can be over looked if the story is compelling enough. I'm not sure what rule system it has (if it even has one) But I'll probably make an intelligent / wise character with a touch of Charisma. I'm already excited! I read a few things on it and an actual branching main story line that has actual consequences is always welcome.

It doesn't use any established PnP ruleset, though is "somewhat" similar to SPECIAL. It does give you a ton of freedom in creating unique characters, but unfortunately its fairly unbalanced in favor of "fast" melee>"strong" melee> spellcaster > technologists. High charisma characters can be thought of as melee as they'll get lots of party members, some of which are good melee fighters in their own right.

Well that's actually cool to hear about Charisma, I'm guessing it functions somewhat like the Fallout series then? A high Charisma character gets some members to beat the crap out of things for him? I have to say, that was actually one of my favorite things to do in Fallout. It made me feel like "The Boss" if you know what I mean.

When combined with the painful dungeon design, it can't be, IMO. Arcanum is one of the saddest examples of a game that "could have been". Of course, the other two Troika games fit right in there, too.
