Demo is out. I'm not a fan but this is basically a combination of Nioh + Sekiro.

I've unlocked greatsword, spear and double weapons.

There are a lot of complains about performance on Steam but for me the game is very smooth.

Anyway, you need to manage your stamina like crazy but at least it's not a rollfest.

Sounds like a good combination of inspirations to me. Demo save data carries over to the full game too. I'll probably give it a shot in the next couple days.

Played this for about an hour. Not really sure how I feel about it. Combat feels really nice and I know martial options will expand as the game goes on. The game takes heavy inspiration from Nioh, almost to the point where I'd call this the first "Nioh-like" as much as it makes me cringe to do so. So as a huge fan of Nioh 1 and 2, I'm kind of glad to see it. But it also takes a lot of stuff from Nioh that I don't love, primarily the loot system and mission-based structure. I guess a lot of whether or not this game succeeds in my eyes would depend on how fleshed out the combat truly gets the further in you get.

I just don't know about this one. It has potential, but I'm not sure how much.

Huh? What's wrong with mission based structure?
Nothing. Just not my preference for an action RPG. I don't hate the mission-based structure of Nioh, but I'd prefer if it was continuous level design, or at least only a few separate levels throughout the game, ala Black Myth: Wukong.

Wow, you guys weren't kidding about this being a Nioh clone .

Most combat mechanics were lifted from Nioh almost 1 for 1.

Probably won't have nearly as much depth or build variety (you are big dumb warrior man in the story so your weapons will probably be limited to what was in the demo + maybe a great axe/hammer and fists/claws) but I had fun with it.

I like that it's a lot more fast paced than most souls clones like Nioh was. Not only do I prefer this type of gameplay, but it also manages to hide a lot of the jank. For example, I didn't like the block-focused combat in Lies of P because it was really jarring blocking an attack but seeing the enemy's arm or weapon lodged inside my character's body for a second afterwards. But here, because everything is much faster, stuff like this is barely noticeable.

Hope the full game will have quick weapon swapping. I think it will because 1. final boss kinda alludes to it and 2. Nioh had it so why not rip off some more while we're at it.

Seems like this is going to be a decent "get at 50% off" game.

I think this right here is what will get the combat closer to where it should be in terms of player expression. Really hope it's the case. You're right-on about this being a "get at 50% off" game. It's near objectively "good" if you're a fan of Nioh, and could very well end up being superior to Wo Long if they have some above average level design, broader enemy variety, and impactful character progression.

Presentation and general style seems pretty interesting. I'm also a bit meh on the mission-based setup, I prefer a more driven approach.
Nioh can get away with that kind of stuff because it's freaking Nioh and it's got the best combat system in existence, so anything aside from combat is secondary.

The game is very basic, zero verticality, there isn't even a jump button. It also pop up first in your search engine now when you search for any new Berserk material or new chapter release date, which is travesty.

Oh, bud, I have some very bad news about "new chapters" of Berserk.

Are there hot scantily clad women in it?
The PC~

Looks like Lacrymas isn't the only one making females barbarians.

:M
Of course I'm not ;d The quirk in my setting is that only women can be barbarians (as in the playable class).
ERYFKRAD thoughts? You going to slice off the peener to play?
Lacrymas cannot stop me if I play a barbarian dude in his setting.
But then this is his setting so why would I be playing it in the first place?

Too bad about the mission structure and random loot.
But despite those, I really liked Nioh 1. Also Code Vein - and this somehow looks similar, style-wise.
You get to use big, badass ultra-swords. So who knows...

While I can't stop you, obviously, there's no lore support for it. It would be like being a man in a nunnery irl. Orcs do have Barbarians (as in the class), that's where the humans copied the techniques from, but orcs won't be a playable race in the beginning.

Yup.

Barbarians

techniques
I see there is no lore support in your own lore.
The lore support is that they do fight with reckless abandon, but to get to that place they need some kind of training. Most of them are normal women who have never held a weapon before. What they took from the orcs is the ability to channel the rage into fighting power. And again, "barbarian" is what they are called by the laypeople, they are actually the (Warrior-)Sisters of Bereavement. The difference between them and the usual fighters is that the usual fighters are more like hoplites in formation, much more disciplined and graceful, while the barbarian women just run into the fray like a swarm.

so by "copied" you mean "it has nothing common with ork barbarian too"? or ork boyz in your setting getting angery because suffering miscarriage?

Oh I didn't realise orcs are also grieving their miscarriages.
Anyway nix to all this, ain't the thread to muck around about your setting.
