Why does a light sabre do more damage than a heavy sabre?
on a similar note, when I was younger, getting into D&D, I always wondered why they needed to have a zillion weapons that all do the same damage. As I got older, I just realized it was probably early play testers nagging Gary Gygax to add ANOTHER type of dagger they saw in a history book about rare medieval weapons from India

IIRC it was Gary himself who really appreciated the various different medieval weapons
