Larry 1-3 use the typing interface, Larry 1 VGA & Larry 5 don't. Larry 7 uses a hybrid UI where you can type in some commands, but otherwise it's mouse-driven.

While you're at it, check out Freddy Pharkas (mouse-driven) as well.

The parser for Larry 1-3 is actually quite decent. You should give them a try too.

Yeah, maybe if the Ol' "Adventure Bug" really bites me I'll check them out at some point. I've played/watched the original Larry 1 quite a lot back in the day and played the VGA version too, that was the game everyone was talking about and sharing tips and talking about how to progress in the game.

I like how in Larry 6 the resort changes when the game progresses, new babes arrive in different places etc. simple little thing, but makes the gameworld feel more alive and reactive as a result. Can't wait to serve beers to the hot red-headed country singer in the Blues Bar!

Yeah, Larry 6 is a really good adventure game. Larry 1,6,7 are the best of the series, and luckily for you 1 already has an SVGA version with point and click as already mentioned. To be honest 2,3,5 are the weakest of the bunch in terms of design, but the humor is still really good so I'd say they're worth giving a shot.

LSL 5 basically plays itself, since if you fail to do any puzzle, the game just advances anyway. I remember finding that highly disappointing. The original was a lot better than I was expecting being someone who typically went for PnCs over parsers whenever possible. Remakes tend to lose something of the original's fun and charm, especially Sierra's games.
