Spiderweb software games give you a pretty constant stream of custom allocatable skill points, as opposed to having most things defined at chargen.

Otherwise the character systems are not especially memorable, though.

Um, I tried to play Aethra's Chronicles but is it me or is the encounter rate just ridiculous in that game? You can't take 2 steps in a dungeon without being attacked.
