Considering their best games were Bioware and Bethesda handouts, they could literally be the fakest studio ever

Gun types can have very different reload animations from each other, this is again a revolutionary concept only because TOW 1 did not feature it.
There is a Game Journalist Gun that just consumes ammo of any type present in your inventory and is always ready to fire.
This is a console game like all fps now, so important weapon functions like 'detonate bombs' are tied to your reload button instead of a specific button.
NuDoom had an ice grenades to BFG combo so now this game has an ice grenades to BFG combo.
Weapon mods are no longer universal slop but differentiated per weapon, another revolution.
For some reason all of these features and concepts are "keyed in" and the devs had to "key into" them.

Pretty overly-harsh thing to say about Cain and Boyarsky.

Also a bit overly lenient of Avellone who was all right enough as a writer, but his skills as a designer were mediocre at best, often less than mediocre. And well, he was working with games here, not books.
