It seems like I've totally missed out on NOTR. I though it was some german-only addon with just a few more hours of gameplay. I guess I'm wrong?

NotR is the best part of the Gothic series, it has the greatest atmosphere, quests (including MQ) and graphic of them all. And amazing music.

To state what's been said before, but the answer is yes, though I can understand where you're coming from. It took over 2 years for the English version of NOTR to be released, and instead of announcing that it was Gothic 2 + expansion pack, they simply called it Gothic 2 Gold.

Moreover, unlike "normal" expansions, instead of just adding a new area, some items and maybe a monster or two to play with, Gothic 2 NOTR greatly enhances and improves the original game and its content.

"A few more hours" in this case is at least 12 hours of gameplay.

Installed and started Gothic 1 today and the controls are no where near as bad as they are portrayed. At least in terms of moving around, talking to people, interacting with objects. It took me all of ten minutes to get use to it. Granted combat is going to be a different story. I only killed about half a dozen things on the way to the old camp and they were obviously weak things that didn't really swing at me. Strafing/sidestep seems to be borked somehow as when I tried it I started running in a circle.

Not a huge discount but there's a new indie hybrid tower defense/FPS game for pre-order on Steam called Sanctum -- 10% discount for preordering one and 20% discount for a two-pack which would make it $10 for each copy. Looks pretty decent.

Bros, Sword of the Stars Complete is 6.86 on Impulse right now.

I've been craving some ship-design/4x/space gaming. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy it. With savings like these, I can't afford not to.

I prefer Steam, but I like to throw some occasional money at Impulse just to delay Gaben's stranglehold on online distribution.

Impulse also seems to have more sales on niche games.

Yeah, Impulse seems to actively pursue strategy games like Master of Orion II, and they had that exclusive Age of Wonders Trilogy soundtrack deal for a while (before it showed up on GoG). Wardell is a strategy game nerd, while Gabe Newell is... er... okay I have no idea what kind of games he likes. The kind that make him oodles of money?

TF2 has overtaken WoW. I've played both, and the hats are far better in TF2.

Hah, so the kind that makes Blizzard oodles of money. Why do I get the feeling he doesn't spend much time playing his indie selection.

Yeah it's all the game's in the 'potato pack' that were leaked in the files during the Holiday Sales. So far no actual sales but people are talking about hints in the games leading to other games or whatever. I have about four or so currently installed but don't really feel like playing through any of them.

As it happens I own all the games in the potato pack except for Drop That Beat, Wonderful End of the World and Bit Trip Beat. DARE I SPEND $15 FOR 3 INDIE GAMES AND A POTATO HAT?
