Eh, the Thanksgiving sale was a cornucopia of 80% and 90% discounts. Definitely better than the summer sale that preceded it.

Infi, you're a master of KS and beg thread. I'm a master of tracking Steam sale price points. Let's just agree to be experts in our own particular fields, shall we? That said, over the last few years the discounts during Steam's major Holiday sales have been fairly disappointing. The more popular they get the less aggressive they have to be with price slashing. And while there are about fifty games on my wishlist I'd say 75% of those are just to keep an eye on them for future Humble Bundles and the others probably what hit the desired prices.

*shrug* I remember that in my very first Steam holiday sale after I decided to become a "heavy buyer", I was buying things left and right. At the same time I was hearing you and Skyway and all the rest go "THIS SALE SUCKSSSS" and I didn't really know what your problem was. Actually, I did know, you had all the games I was buying already, so yeah.

As far as trends go, I remember the last summer sale being kind of crappy due to having a lot of weaksauce 66% discounts, but then they made up for it in Thanksgiving. There's also a different problem in that publishers seem strangely reluctant to put discounts on certain games from their back catalog that they've seemingly "forgotten" about, which is frustrating if you didn't grab those games back before they forgot about them.

I think it's both. Sales are less good, and people already have the games going on sale.

I feel there's more focus on AAA stuff, and less discounts on obscure stuff that been lying in my wishlist for ages... is such a important sales event that big publishers want to grab all the attention.

    I got Bioshock Infinite.
It's a pretty bad game. The artwork and story and stuff is really neat. The gameplay itself sucks. Generic shooting + looting through trash bins. And there are so many trash bins to loot.
Yeah fucking Elizabeth I'll get around to saving you, just after I loot every desk in the building for 5 coins

Is there a big event coming tomorrow? There should be a new daily deal available (since dailies have been actually lasting 48 hours since the last big sale), but it's still Shadow Warrior.

Rising is really fucking good. Wait and see how the port is, but definitely get it if it's at all a decent job. It's short even by the standards of this kind of game, though, be warned - only seven stages, one of which is a prologue and two of which are just boss fights. The game has a lot of replay value by its very nature, though, so it really just means there's no filler. Still, I'd probably feel a bit cheated if I'd paid full price for it.

I'm getting a PS3 very soon, and it was on my list for that system (Demon's Souls is #1 there), but I'd obviously prefer to play it at the proper 1080p and 60 fps, and whatever other visual improvements they add. Hopefully it won't be another shitty port.

    A double lie, at that.

    1. Activision doesn't "do" sales

    2. Even if they did, the kid would never have enough patience to wait until it was 75%

I'll grab Assassin's Creed 4 if they lower it enough. Not sure what else is out there I want though, honestly.
