Also, procedurally-generated shit is always shit and inferior to hand-crafted, properly designed shit. All this talk about procedurally generated storylines is 99% wishful thinking and all talk, just like Radiant AI NPCs are LIVING THEIR LIFE WITHOUT YOU.
Yes but LLMs in 2025 are a lot more impressive than procgen in 2020. LLMs are kind of reddit with generating dialogue. They can do it but it's geh. For example:

"It's been a long journey." *looong pause* "Indeed! It has been a long journey. But it is all worth it in service of our quest. We have traveled through treacherous terrain and faced many dangers but we have persevered. I am glad to be journeying with you, my friend."

It's all slop filler. In the next section, when prompted, the AI character can remember and describe specific events but it does so when prompted and its dialogue is still full of slop filler.

~"We slew the giant horker. For each obstacle we overcame, I have felt myself growing stronger."

Maybe the LLM tech can learn to filter cliches. Maybe that would undermine how it works. I don't know. tl;dr Right now it gives off painfully dialogue but generated story outlines probably don't suffer from the same limitation.

It's also refreshing to have an open world RPG without a main quest.

There's also no side quests and no content. You're gonna love it.

I know it's a joke but they are writing up a lot of lore for the game and from what I've read it's pretty good so far.

I'm not sure how the AI generated stuff will work (haven't watched any of their podcasts) but I think it should be cool for sandbox enjoyers.

Wow... I tried to skip around the video for a few minutes and...

"In a world where the gaming industry is throwing itself shamelessly at microtransactions and battlepasses, Ted, Julian, and the team working on the Wayward Realms are leading the charge back to a bygone era where the worlds were the size of Britain and the gameplay didn't require a subscription fee."

So, six months down the line from a $750k crowdfunder, they've got no dev screenshots or videos, they haven't decided whether the game will feature multiplayer or even how they're going to structure their story and AI, all they've got - much as expected - is the same sort of plans and promises waffle they had before the Kickstarter... But they DO have a merch shop now! I'm actually a little impressed with the brazen cupidity on display.

P.S. Steam comments ain't havin' it.
