I was impressed by the graphics of Witcher. Both the faces (although inanimate and often used for more than one npc) and the bodies are extremely detailed. For me these are some of the best graphics I've seen in a RPG (way better than Oblivion).
The real strength of the graphics of Witcher, however, is that they still look great even at the lower settings. That's the biggest problem with most recent rpgs like Gothic 3. They may look very nice at high settings but are extremely ugly at medium and low.
As for playing a preset character, I never minded that. In the Witcher you can't change your character's personality, he is the cold faced cinic Geralt, but you can greately influence his character: you get to decide his alliances, his ideals, his desires, his affection. He is not the Nameless One (although I have a minor quest in the Witcher to beat the nameless one, I don't know if it's a reference but it fits here
) but compaired to other characters in rpgs that come from books, you can decide a great deal of important things about him.
As for the name, "The Witcher", I haven't read the books (I hope they all get translated to english soon) but fits nicely in the game. I don't know if Hexer would be more acurate but I thing it sounds a bit bizzare.
yarpen I have just one question. How come so many female leads in the game are readheads? I really liked readheads and if one female lead was blonde or dark haired that would have made a really difficult in game decision a bit easier
