This chinese rpg is pretty decent, a fair of amount of choice and consquences for what looks like JRPG clone. Tactical combat, lots of gear, kungfu skills to master, titles and traits to earn. Not incredibly far into yet so can't comment on a lot of features like the sects. Has a demo you can try out.

Which other wuxia RPGs have you played, and how does it compare to them?

Just Tale of Wuxia and not really sure what comparisons you want me to make between it a life-sim rpg with interludes to this somewhat open world jrpg inspired chinese RPG(I still need to finish Hero's Adventure Road to Passion and waiting on Wandering Sword for them to finish updating/expanding it). The demo basically has the first area it's somewhat behind the current release of the game but almost the same; once you finish that area you're free to tackle 3 more areas in any order your see fit jumping between them if you like (and I do believe there are more areas after that). Lots of different traits to select from some which allow you to capture beasts/fallen enemies to add to your party for example(check the point buy system to see all the starting traits). High/Low morality system with a fair amount of CnC affecting your alignment/quest paths/outcomes. Seems to encourage replays with unlocking different starting backgrounds like if you master stealing you can do so from the start and nab some unique gear/kung fu scrolls from enemies.

Did I say it has a demo?

You can even protect crispy's purity of essence (there are actually some kung fu restricted to such wizards).

Looks good. I'll give the demo a try. About how long did it take to finish?

When can we expect a review, Crispy?

Depending on how much you do, a couple of hours. Saves don't transfer to full game as the demo was from earlier in the early access, I quit before I hit the end of it and got the full the game so I can't say exactly how long it is.

found this game because of this post. i m really liking it, it s like hero s adventure road to passion, with far less sandbox but with better plot + characters to compensate.

my problems with it are the lack of difficulty settings ( have to refrain using the forging/crafting system because of this, it breaks the game with current difficulty ) and the '' adventure game syndrome '' which can make you easily lose itens because you did not click certain pixels in some rooms.

what i liked the most is the '' morality setting '' i guess? it s refreshing that most characters are not retards, that being a good guy often gives less or no rewards at all besides morality/morality points ( which are used to recruit good aligned characters ) and that the game gives plenty of options to be a opportunistic guy without going full evil ( even thou you can ).

hopefully it keeps being good.

That's rather mundane kung-fu stuff.
My favourite kung-fu flick has a bad guy who through training and sexual abstinence achieved an invincible body with only one weak spot - his balls. But there's more!
Thanks to a breathing technique he can hide his balls inside the body, making him - in theory - immune to all damage.
Good movie.

And don't get me started on kung-fu eunuchs...

Thanks for the name bro :x

It's Invincible Armour/Armor. And I have seen it, and it does in fact rule. However I can recommend many, many more where that came from. :desu:

Insert Title Here
this one gets the "I pirated it, played it for 15h and still felt like buying it" seal of approval
I'd have dismissed it seeing the environment art despite immediately recognising it's kin to Hero's Adventure RtP, which I adore, but the writing and all the situations you get into elevate it and are in a complete contrast to the desaturated art
it's a funny game

I liked the game . As with other chinese games i think it s a combination of their '' alien '' culture/fantasy + indie studios, which create products reminescent of when western devs tried to be creative instead of trying to create mass appeal slop.

That said what the fuck was the XENOGEARS tier ending with the gigantic wall of text/exposition. I guess it was for the same reason as xeno? no more money since the game was EA and released in three acts? anyway even without the wall of text the ending was abysmal

Well , now i go into the KCD 2 waiting room.

The game was alright. Its kind of a mess design wise you can tell they thought "x" was a cool idea then dropped it to work on another "x" and got overwhelmed with the amount of labor to create the game they envisioned for a 5 man team they tried to cram too many different things in the game. Some of the story arcs end suddenly and do not feel satisfying. The C&C design is a mess being good or evil is not balanced at all and most of the evil kungfu gives stat penalties sure they inflict status effects but those are useless end of the game.

The player progression and rpg mechanics are silly no matter your build most of your power is going to come from pixel hunting fried chicken and fried ducks and other items that increase your stats. The equipment itemization sucks ass the very first set you get in the game can carry you all the way through. The kungfu manuals you find never feels satisfying lot of the legendary kungfus are a joke like move anywhere on the battlefield which is useless.

The combat system and difficulty is everywhere. The game is piss easy till towards the end there is a massive difficulty spike. The combat AI is really stupid tho for the final battle I cheesed the game by taking advantage of the dumb AI and abusing alchohol and gimicky items that cause damage tiles on the battlefield that inflict massive damage more then any kungfu the player likely has which is dumb hence why the kung fu part of player progression never feels satisfying.

Overall 6.5/10 its like a sloppy made rpgmaker game decent but there are superior chinese rpgs. Lol I feel bad for the people who waited 2 years for this games early access to end cause the end products a mess and not worth the wait.

I agree about it being a design mess and the consumables being retarded op ( not even chicken and ducks but more the ones that give bonkers spd ). i also agree that there are many better chinese rpgs ( most of them really )

I guess the point of equipment is that better ones get better bonuses with crafting even thou i never touched it

The game is easy besides the three emissaries fight, imo it s one of it s biggest problems not having difficulty levels. that said i disagree about the kungfu techniques you can easily oneshot everything even late game at lvl 50 or so if you build something that makes sense. hell if you add to anything + dmg with spd with the enlight shit you ll one shot every single thing besides the envoys. that said perhaps i m biased since i used fist and don t know that much about other weapons. with fist you get at least half a dozen options to oneshot everything

A.I is braindead yeah but it s only relevant at the last fight, that arena with that shit at the middle for the a.i to teleport and get confused is retarded.

I initially thought it was gonna be a decent combat game I regret shilling that to people because it was hard to win that tournament in the south west region where you can be evil. I had op bandit boss item recruits to help win that for me. After that part of the game yes it was a cakewalk till the last few battles with the difficulty spike.

Thing is the game just doesn't feel rewarding doing the hard optional fights like that early tournament with 10-12 combatants final one being the immortal elder, I cheesed that too with mp steal art, You get jack shit from doing that. Also the optional fight with langhaun or w.e pavelion again you get nothing but the protagonist laughing in their faces. Most of the games player power progression comes from pixel hunting behind walls for fried chicken and frozen monk cum and shit like a rpgmaker game lol. It would of been a lot better if they designed the gain in power coming from hard fought battles like classic crpgs baldurs gate 2 etc.
