Another issue with sequels is that people who are curious to the game but on the fence can feel a bit like "oh so I've got to play the whole damn series now or else I'm going to miss out on all the references, long-term themes, in-jokes" etc

If a sequel was made it would probably be better to just style it as taking place in the Age of Decadence setting instead of AoD II (though on the other hand it is a quite striking title and has established a moderate amount of recognition among fans of the genre, judging from 4chan etc).

I think RPG sequels where you play the same character as the previous game (colossal mistake of Deadfire IMO, where nothing makes any sense whatsoever if you didn't play the divisive-at-best first game to completion) aren't smart. Fallout 1 and 2 is a pretty good balance, you can jump into 2 just fine and pick things up with zero knowledge of 1. Final Fantasy is probably the silly other end of the scale where the games have absolutely nothing to do with each other (even thematically or stylistically).

Strap Yourselves In Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
How about you just email me, I'll present you with a whole host of dialog options, each of which you are completely unprepared/unskilled/unarmored/unarmed for, and then I'll email you back saying "You're dead."

You'd save some big bucks and, frankly, a lot of time, plus no waiting for a sequel. Win-win-win.
Git gud.
