Nah I think they have no idea what they're doing and are just going full damage control trying to convince the old fans to buy the game in a desperate attempt.
The reaction from fans to the "Headshot XP" pop-up in the E3 gameplay demo was fairly negative. Did that have an impact on the decision to remove it from the game?
Daniel: Fans might be surprised how often the devs go to the forum to see how things are perceived in the "real world". This feedback is extremely valuable to us, so as you can imagine, the consistent reaction to the XP system was something that indicated we needed to revisit some design decisions.
Nic: It is more a design decision to add to our economy system and entice the player to steal more. But yes, the E3 reaction was right, rewarding killing like that was wrong for a Master Thief.
"for all his tireless work and dedication to the Thief and Deus Ex communities". Tireless work in insulting and pushing away as many communities as possible and dedication in searching for a new job so he could avoid having to answer forum questions for weeks on end. What happened to Adam? Doesn't he usually do these Q&As?
We're sorry to announce that Adam has decided to leave Eidos-Montréal to pursue new opportunities. We're going to miss him dearly around the office, and I hope you'll join me in thanking him for all his tireless work and dedication to the Thief and Deus Ex communities. He's leaving some gigantic shoes to fill (the man had huge feet, for real), but I'll do my best to keep you informed and entertained until we can introduce you to a new Community Manager.
Holocaust or Doritos, which is worse and why? Diskuss!I'm starting to wonder if the Holocaust, if it was a project "in development" and had a forum that the "fanbase" could discuss and comment on, would have gone through the same things.
It would be... interesting, to say the least. Claiming that the moderators were nazis would be utterly pointless, all the leet-speak would be in German and users would be... "recruited" at random to take part in the alpha testing phase, never to return.
ROFL I forgot about that stupid burger deal.Eidos is to cheap to have Doritos and mountain dew. We will have to settle for a Holocaust of fatty Rustlers microwave burgers and perhaps a glass of cheap middle eastern cola instead.

I don't remember if you were on the forum when it happened but we even had a Rustlers PR rep show up on the forum and ask for someone named Andrew. It turned out he had won the exciting trip to sunny and upbeat Detroit, but for some reason not cashed it in. I don't think anyone claimed it in the end. Yet of course Myimmortal before she was unmasked as be being Viktoria as well was plying her trade via PM's to get it for herself.
Either way the whole Rustlers PR thing was terrible to the point that as far as I can tell ended prematurely and did more damage then good.

Is there evidence of the PMs?

Well, they got the "exciting" bit right. Not even Garrett would think of venturing into eastern Detroit to find ways to make his rent.
