Nah I think they have no idea what they're doing and are just going full damage control trying to convince the old fans to buy the game in a desperate attempt.

Codex USB, 2014
I think they started with a plan to get interest from new people to overcome the vitriol of olds. Now, since that never really happened, they might be trying to get away from some of the modern conventions that drove them into the ground community-wise. Knowing the deviousness of lots of publishers, it's very possible that there are team members who have actually been waiting on the day that they would get told they can finally remove the XP system and other little trinkets that sound really dumb. Of course, they've only got four months to save Christmas.

While it makes developers seem like they don't know what Thief is about, XP change can't be difficult to pull out, and they might have done it by observing their beta testers. You had to use 100 xp for killing 4 guys each giving 25 xp to improve your arrows at level 3. Now you'll get some gold from them, 25 per guard to buy new arrows which cost 100 gold at level 3. It's weird to even think that somebody have written "xp for headshots" into the design doc, but that won't hurt quality of the game at all at this stage. Whatever the quality of this stuff is supposed to be.

Great, now add jumping and climbing, open levels, a plot that isn't ridiculous and a protagonist who isn't a high school goth

GUISE I MANAGED TO GET THE ENDING INFO:
Garrot wakes up after smoking a large pot with Erin sucking his cock on a burning bridge. They fall down, but Garrot survives and cries over Erin's body.
The end.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

Well, that train has left long ago... the fan reaction on TTLG is just as negative as here on the dex, and even the press isn't very positive about this game. And now that TDM standalone is out, none of the old fans will even care anymore.

It took a week of waiting for the process to complete, but I have successfully had the wiki entry for Thi4fs shitty new voice actor deleted for "Lack of Notability".

And to add to that here is what the idiots themselves have to say about the XP system being scrapped.

As a member of the Eidos forums from the day the studio first opened the forums I can state one fact: BULLSHIT they never touched the forums and only responded to stuff that was filtered and handed on by the moderators.

Yet it still made it into the design document and almost made it into the release game.:retarded:
"for all his tireless work and dedication to the Thief and Deus Ex communities". Tireless work in insulting and pushing away as many communities as possible and dedication in searching for a new job so he could avoid having to answer forum questions for weeks on end.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
I'm starting to wonder if the Holocaust, if it was a project "in development" and had a forum that the "fanbase" could discuss and comment on, would have gone through the same things.

It would be... interesting, to say the least. Claiming that the moderators were nazis would be utterly pointless, all the leet-speak would be in German and users would be... "recruited" at random to take part in the alpha testing phase, never to return.

Eidos is to cheap to have Doritos and mountain dew. We will have to settle for a Holocaust of fatty Rustlers microwave burgers and perhaps a glass of cheap middle eastern cola instead.

I don't remember if you were on the forum when it happened but we even had a Rustlers PR rep show up on the forum and ask for someone named Andrew. It turned out he had won the exciting trip to sunny and upbeat Detroit, but for some reason not cashed it in. I don't think anyone claimed it in the end. Yet of course Myimmortal before she was unmasked as be being Viktoria as well was plying her trade via PM's to get it for herself.

Either way the whole Rustlers PR thing was terrible to the point that as far as I can tell ended prematurely and did more damage then good.

Is there evidence of the PMs?

Only what Myimmortal herself said at the time. She showed great interest in what happens if the person who won the trip didn't come forward, asked outright in the thread if she could have it while everyone else was laughing about how bad the prize was to begin with. Then she told everyone that she would speak to the rep about it via PM's.

Sometime later I sent some PM's around the forums to a few in the know posters who now have all left that place. The only thing I found out from them is that, supposedly, she had been speaking with Coyotegrey, whom she was seen to be the right hand of on the forums for the trip. I have nothing beyond that to back it up beyond that but I believed it. It just fit her character so well from what I had seen on the TTLG forums and my few dealings with her via PM's. And I especially started to believe it when one night in the very early hours of the morning I was on the forums and I came across a moderator was was online who I had never heard of before. Lets just say that Viktoria and Myimmortal were not her only accounts and one of the moderators had been tasked to hunt them all down.

Funny how someone who was so religiously devoted to quoting the TOU went about breaking it.

Well, they got the "exciting" bit right. Not even Garrett would think of venturing into eastern Detroit to find ways to make his rent.

It couldn't be worse than the abandoned Old Quarter with the Haunted Cathedral, unless Garrett is so racist he'd rather walk among undead than among black people.

Why do I have a feeling this game will sell and review well enough such that the developer/publisher do not learn a single thing?
