Karma takes care of justice in situations where people are too dumb to do something right (in this case boycott the game). So I'm sure Eidos inflated their Thiaf budget beyond recovery and they will go down as people Youtube the fuck out of the game. The only redeeming thing would be releasing a full level editor with it.

I can see it now, from that image. Player starts with only one hand on his field of vision and the second one will only accompany you after the upgrade, to visually signify the choices.

Worst thing is the mandatory 10/10 scores, "Great evolution of series" comments and multimillion sales by morons which will warrant a sequel.

I honestly dont know how many more "evolutions" of my favorite games I can take, im in my 30s and I already have some gray hair ffs.

One of these days, i remember sitting on the computer and reading news about the new Thief being released. I saw screenshots of it, and it looked amazing - it wasnt the casual shit i remember. All the things we loved about the series were there, plus more: elemental arrow fusion (fire+water etc), dropping coins to distract guards, more missions than i could count, even modding support. I was amazed and rushed to buy the game day 1, the first game that deserved that. But when i checked Steam, the page didnt show me the good Thief. It showed me a game called Thiaf, and it was all a lie. It was just a fucking dream. Stephen Russell appeared and pat me on the back and said, "A good Thief sequel? How pretentious can you get..."

I woke up devastated.

That's quite a clever way of deceiving consolefags. Secretly make the game tone down the difficulty slider, so that retards think they're really good at it

I don't get the readables system - they should implement in-game reading (possibly near light sources to add tension) like the one in Dark Mod. That was one of the improvements over originals in immersion. Instead we got menus. At least those will have shroud so the immersion is not broken:D

I honestly like the blue-greenish misty victorian streets look. It would be really nice for an adventure game. Jack the Ripper Mystery Adventures!
But for a hide-in-shadows game it doesn't really look dark enough.

Well I was waiting for some confirmation before posting this but now that I have it here it goes.

On my twitterfeed someone posted this image of Thiaf with stealth being an unlockable skill but even he didn't know if it was real or not.

Now today someone retweeted this picture and it turns out it was completely real.

That was exactly what I wanted to point out
I'm honestly amazed how come there were no explosions in the trailer during the "use the night to hide" part

New trailer is up, a bit more informative, than the previous ones:

I don't know what to think of it. I'm almost certain that the level design will be lacking, just as the AI, and I already hate that they limit my movement in the game. Yet, it seems that you can really ghost in the game, you have a lot of gadgets to use, so at least it have some Thief good ness in it. Maybe in the hardest difficulty setting, it will be tolerable.

Although I almost facepalmed when they say that Geralt Garret lost his memory in the game. Eidos are such a creative bunch of developers.

Looking at this trailer... there's to many scripted events, upgrading things are horrible, focus on cinematic style is too much. Nu-garrett running from guards looks like a 1st person view assassin's creed. The "epic" story and raping thief lore are the worst parts of this, like garrett being a psychopath that collects trophys a la dexter...

The irony is that I can see hints that it could be an OK stealth game if they ditch the thief franchise and renamed the game. Looks like they're trying too hard to undo all the bad decisions they made in this game so it kinda looks the old thiefs, but they did that too late, about a few months before release. One example is that although there's 3rd person takedowns, looks like it can be deactivated, like many of the stupid camera angles. There are some scenes in this trailer that sadly really looks like thief, but then again, when you see "explosions" or big columns falling and destroying the enviroment in a cinematic way, it's disgusting and makes you want to vomit.

I understand the comparison with dishonored, but dishonored had some big open levels, which doesn't seem to be the case.

And the levels look terrible linear, call of duty level. It seems that everything is a corridor, that has a walk way above, a sewer below and the street level where you have the guards.
