Probably older than you. You stop asking this question at a certain age.

Late 90s. But my first real cRPG was Arcanum. That's why I have such fond feelings for that shitty game. Also, foreseeing your next question, I played FO1/2 long before FO3. I hated many things about FO2 and consider FO1 vastly superior to it, however.

Do you remember the great 3DFX Voodoo revolution?
When low res blurred textures were considered to be incredibly beautiful?
I don't see how is this relevant to the discussion.

It is, because the technology to make FPS games, even 3D FPS games was there and indeed, FPS games were all rage then.
And even FPS games that look shit now, seemed to look great and were "next-gen" back then.

So, the technology is irrelevant to the choice of TB/Isometric perspective.

Not really, Morrowind was one of the first game 3D sandbox games that didn't look like a jumble of polygons, but it still had a shitty draw distance. The technology for this type of games has caught up relatively recently, I'd say.

Yes, because if you start playing during the late 90s it means you only play the recently released games, since the older ones are erased from history

Doesn't look like he did. Or if he did he didn't like them because they weren't first-person or had a good draw distance, thus they weren't good sand-box games. We all know first-person and good draw distance is essential for sand-box games.

Essentially, yes, for him older games are erased from history since 2D is like totally obsolete, man.

Which didn't stop Bethesda from developing Arena and Daggerfall as FP RPGs before that.
The same with Strife and Ultima Underworld.

You're just not getting it, are you?

An example: bicycles with steel frames are obsolete. This is a fact. But it doesn't mean I can't order a custom steel bike and enjoy riding it a lot.

I'm sorry, but my knowledge about bicycles is as limited as yours about video games. I'm sure it's a very smart parallel, though.

Anyway, even if the hypothetical Fallout 3 would be 3D, it doesn't mean, it has to turn into an FPS.

Droog is trolling obviously.

Anyway, why would someone propagate multiple quest solutions, extensive dialog trees, if all he wanted was to do a fucking sandbox diablo. Also then do it again in another game 6 years later.

It's funny to see you dumbasses deny this.

Do you really think that if the Fallout dev team had today's technology they would still make it a 640x480 2D game?

Shit I think Beth should do it. Put it on that there, the PC, and make it an arcade download for consoles and its a win win win.
