Does anyone else feel like that Avellone video was made specifically for the Codex?
Nah, the MCA cult is rising A LOT outside the Codexian borders, even NEOGaf and Kotaku now praises him as the God-Emperor... not to mention all his guest-appereaces at webseries and conventions.

Over the last few years, I see his name more and more frequently on /v/ as well, though I sometimes get the feeling it's just the resident codex /v/irgins spreading the word. Outside of the Codex though, he's both worshipped and hated because there's a kind of internet myth going around that he is some sort of anti paladin that has dedicated his writing to hating moralfags. Lots of the haters remind me of Mastermind, and I'm sometimes kinda sure it's him I'm arguing with on /v/.

Not to mention his dislike for romances.

Been there since forever.

Sadly most of my exposition to 4chan came from my brother calling me over to his computer and showing me some dude dressed as a cat trying to fornicate with some dude dressed as a teddy bear. Can´t bring myself to visit the more respectable looking forum´s.

/tg/ is ok. On the whole, most of it has turned to shit though so you're not missing out.

I was so excited when I saw this #Torment sculpture that I had to show it off. It's the First Castoff character. pic.twitter.com/RbWf5uQ8h3

you should be asking: "Does Torment need tactical combat at all?" In Wasteland combat is essential but in Torment it was never really more than a chore.
Yes it needs to be tactical. Regardless of is it RtWP or Turn based.
You, of course dont even understand what tactical combat means, so its natural to see the disinclination.

Combat being tactical means this:

That it is not a matter of twitching and doesnt devolve into a slug fest. It also means that skills, weapons and gear play a bigger role then the player skills.
Which is a good thing when you have some kind of party to control. Them with different skill sets and all.
IT DOES NOT mean it has to be tedious or long. Thats a consequences of a bad design, not whether combat is tactical or not.

As a more appropriate alternative, I would like to see you try to do it through the dialogue system.
That is already in.

No, a few thousand years would not suffice. Not even 40,000 or few hundred thousand years.
Such numbers mean little to humans.Too close. Too well known.

A Billion is a nice round number that is directly understood as something very, very far away from our time.
Not just in numbers but in changes the world went through. Continents shifting, sinking, rearranging, Sun being different, Solar system itself being reformed Not one or two but eight different civilizations raising and falling - big, gigantic changes.
A truly clear distinction that you are not in Kansas anymore, not even close. And in fact, so far away that its scary.

It's not, though I like to think that my writings have created silent disciples that continue to spread the Truth to the four corners of the Internet.

Here is Monte's reply to this.

Brian Fargo really wants to get rid of 100k for some reason.

Tax reasons. I mean errr...he really believes in the incline?

Has inxile said anything about how their financials will work with this funding? will it be cannibalized by the WL2 production? will they sit on it and use it solely for Torment? if WL2 bombs how will that affect Torment production?

WL2 and Torment teams are completely separate, and no one involved in Torment (me included) is being paid out of WL2's budget. The reason they're still asking/needing about $1 million is so they can make the game regardless of if WL2 bombs.

That doesn´t look very syfy.
its not meant to look "syfy".

Its meant to look like post apocalyptic hybrid of science fiction and grim fantasy.
Notice the mechanical aperture on the hand, scavenged, most probably. A very nice weird looking weapon. One hand missing and dessicated look of the face and the body.

I like it.

Hmm, a billion years, that´s so far into the future that humankind could have become extinct and a race of sentient squid people could have taken it´s place as intergalactic superpower... several times over.

I would expect something more "out there" than a corpse with a venetian mask. I like the look, i just don´t think it´s the kind of thing i would like to see much of in the setting (i.e using current stereotypical imagery as reference for their monsters, characters).
