Sounds like a confirmation of romances to me. Are all you boys really just scared of virtual cooties?

At most it's a confirmation of Chris Avellone-style doomed, unfulfilled romances which Biodrones can't fap to.

That's all that matters to me.

I don't see how that implies bad endings or lack of fulfillment. One could take his words and apply them to Mask of the Betrayer, which could end with a marriage to Safiya/Gann (the latter being an Avellone-written romance).

 Stop trolling. You know very well that this dark-ass game isn't going to have a happy fulfilling romantic ending.

Apart from the romance bombshell they dropped on the Biotards, I liked this line a lot: For example, there is no total this Kickstarter could reach that would lead us to implement multiplayer.

Also, Ziets goal should be achieved in a couple of hours..

I'd be just fine with 'romance' options, so long as they furthered the themes like in Torment. You had Annah - a doomed relationship where you have condemned a young girl to suffering (by the end of the game she's gone from 'couldn't care less chatoric neutral' to being willing to die for you) for a love that can never have any ending except your going to hell while she stays in Sigil in her metaphorical hell. And FFG - the very last companion to be the victim of the curse of Torment (which is why Ravel can't get under her skin in the same way that she does Morte, Dakkon, Annah and Nordrom) - a near-immortal being who ends the game by committing herself to a hopeless quest to find the TNO in the bottom pits of hell - a place she has already made a desperate escape from once already (and probably has lots of enemies who want to turn her into one of those front-line disposable corpses for the bloodwar)m and in which in a best case scenario she MIGHT fnid hiim in thousands of years time, but with no way of actually getting back out again.
PS:T romances were great, so I don't really get what they mean in their update. No romances? Or romances but no sex (which would just be a fade to black screen nobody likely cares about anyway, even though PS:T afair had npc whores)? Or no bioware-style romances, which is a good thing?

Pyrrhic victories can still end well enough. It'd be disappointing if they just copied Torment's ending.

It has already been achieved (including Paypal)

PS:T's were actually pretty bad but Adam elaborated in the comments that they mean no touching. There will be flirting, possibly mutual flirting.

First of all - there was no 'romance' in P:T. Calling it romance is like saying soccer instead of football. Doesn't necessary makes you a bad person, still reveals you as American

I'd always wished there had been a director's commentary for FEAR.

But mainlly the first one. I literally fell off my chair laughing when the entire boardroom and elevators were covered in blood, corpses and body parts, and the psychic chick says 'I sense there was some form of violence in this room';. NO FUCKING SHIT LADY!!!
Man... FEAr and FAtal ...What a comedy that was. I was laughing my ass off playing that game like i rarely ever did.
And all because pure accidents created by how i played.
See, just by pure coincidences i kept missing all the "scary" scripted moments when FAtal or Alma appear and go "boo!"
For some reason i would turn my head in some other direction every single time. Every fucking single time there was a "boo" script i was looking at some pipes, or a door or stairs. And it just kept getting more and more hilarious.
It got so bad that i ended up running around trying to hit the right moment - but i just couldnt make it.
I would either turn my PoV somewhere else, or fall down off some ledge or stairs, or turn around....
All i would get to see were those ash particles disappearing. Or i would hear the scripted line or two somewhere around the wrong corner.

Then i started calling Fetel - Fatal.
And i tried to headbutt Alma in her longer scenes.

And the Ai of enemies was deliciously stupid and scripted so much that i got a whole another level of hilarity by missing the right moments or fucking it all up because of my coincidental positions or moving.

And then of course that moment when after all of the taunting and threats and trying to scare me ... FAtAl and me finally meet, and he just kneels down and you kill him with one bullet.
I was literally crying from laughter by that moment.

What a great comedy game....

Yeah I never understood what is so scary about some scripted apparitions that can't hurt your character and fights where you activate slow mo and headshot everything

Hopefully this isn't neckbeard land anymore.

Are all you boys really just scared of virtual cooties?

Neckbeards want prostitutes. Neckbeards are scared of virtual cooties. Neckbeards don't want sex.

Will you ever decide on what's a neckbeard? Just lay it down already: All guys ('cept Sawyer, plz do me) suck cuz I don't get any.

Not to mention "Are all you boys really just scared of virtual cooties?" is Straw Dog City and Roguey knows this.

So, biodrones are disappointed. What a shame.
Guys, this is ridiculous: you want romances, but you don't know who NPCs are, you haven't had conversations with them, you are not yet "emotionally engaged" with them.
I award you no points and may God have mercy on your souls.

Since one if the main themes is what does one life matter, I think there it's a very good chance the PC dies at the end.

No, but somebody designed the areas as a janitor.

I doubt it. Those office locales were in terrible shape and with very little concern for fire safety. Not to mention all the malfunctioning lights and blinking exit signs.

EDIT: Added pre-edit quote.

Why not throw in a player house as well? Need that to raise the babies. Add in some microtransactions for furnishing it, with an option of a lovely tomb in the basement, and we've got a certain moneymaker.
Then rename it Torment: The Sims of Numenéra.
