The UI is atrocious, but that's (usually) easy enough to modify. At least the aesthetic of it. Not to mention there's time to fix it.
What really worries me is the word count thing. ~450k words at 40-50 hours of gameplay (doing everything, apparently) means there has to be a lot of time on things other than dialogue, and I suspect it's mostly combat.
I say this because the average completionist run in PS:T is 62 hours, and IIRC my first playthrough was around the 50h mark, which is roughly the "Main+Extras" run. The thing is, PS:T had almost 2 times the word count (800k+), so it's not the writing that's making TTON almost as long.
Sure, it had to be expected with a turn-based system (which I voted against, before anyone thinks I'm a hypocrite), but there's TB combat and TB combat. The bright side for the devs is that as long as the combat and the story aren't horrible, the completion rate should be longer than PoE's.
