Making sieges better is not possible at this stage because there are numerous aspects which will be affected as well, mostly campaign dynamics. The entire rest of the game revolves around the army losses caused by sieges, tinkering with that would mean having to redesign all the factions all over again.

There's also the question of what better sieges would look like. All the suggestions that I've seen floating around address the various annoyances that the current sieges cause and not how they can be realistically redesigned.

I mean most of the shit that sucks with current siege is that it's slog ass boring where Defender is actually punished for Wall Archer as it incredibly easy for attack to get to walls, for attacker it sucks because everything is such a massive slot due to the map being tight corridors all around. Pathfinding issue. Targetting issue. Real time tower defense mode. AI simply sucking balls during siege.

By changing the map, making ladder as resource, tweaking and the defensive bonus the siege could be salvageable

The biggest problem is still the map

Entering into the city when you have ranged units and magic is absolutely pointless, so pathfinding and corridor design is irrelevant. Currently, given how the game plays, the AI is the problem because it's programmed to almost never go outside the walls and when it does it's straggler units that are easily picked off. Yes, the sieges in this game are designed in such a way that it's advantageous for the defender to sally out of the walls. The best practice would be to camp in the middle of the city, like a player does when besieged. Either way, the walls are a hindrance.

If walls were better then sallying forth to have defensive infantry fight in front of the walls would work.

Though a lot of the garrisons are just kinda shit at this

The player is crippled within these 10 turns if he has to wait to capture his first major settlement, making some campaigns borderline impossible (Karl Franz having to wait to siege a major settlement in the beginning means Festus will wipe out the other Elector Counts without you being able to do anything
But wouldn't the mechanism hindering KF als hinder Festus?

It depends on what exactly is hindering the player. If all butt ladders and siege attacker traits are removed, then potentially yes, but then you are just slowing down the campaign for everyone for no reason, yet the end result is the same. The AI isn't actually using ladders against other AI because it's all autoresolved, so why are you removing the ladders in the first place?

Playing as Teclis right now because I still need a few "Win as XYZ" achievements.
Holy crap what a boring campaign. You have Kairos to the south and that's pretty much the only real enemy near you. You can easily be fwiends with the dinos and then you're basically stuck as far as expansion goes. Sailing elsewhere takes ages.
It's almost funny. Almost.

It was mostly a Vortex campaign from TW2, you were in a tight spot, "adventuring" in Lizardmen ruins to save the Vortex while Tyrion trying to defend the homeland.

Didn't translate well enough to Mortal and Immortal Empires well.

yeah in Vortex campaign you will piss the Lizards off by doing the quest and there will be Chaos spawn every milestone

not having to fight over the Ritual Stone just makes Teclis startpos bad

Being stuck in the ass-end of nowhere shows how awful the movement is, especially sailing. The High Elves of all people should be very fast sailors.

e: The ally AI is great, too. Had some opportunities to order around Oxylotl and it just doens't work. "Hey, defend this town!" <proceeds to embark at the coast next to it>
