The worst part of this game will be enduring the Codex beating that joke into the ground.

They've altered the Steam store description slightly.

From

Challenging, classic RPG combat with modern mechanics and presentation

to

Challenging, classic RPG combat: Characteristical RPG combat with modern mechanics and presentation

Also they've removed Action and Strategy genre tags.

Characteristical RPG combat?

They're struggling really hard to convey that modern mechanics doesn't mean "action" but are reluctant to use the word tactical for some reason.

In the past I've seen it described as "rules based" I guess they could have used that.

I don't even. They should just call it tactical real time and be done with it.

J-Saw didn't call his old GDC Talk "The Evolution of RPG Mechanics: From Die Rolls to Hit Volumes" for nothing.

They might be afraid the word tactical will cause inaccurate expectations of what it's going to be like.

It's characteristic of anyone with an eye for detail, which would be anyone who's remotely decent at their job.

Your honor, I would like to introduce as evidence this video game called PoE.

Obsessive obsidian is not bestest obsidian.

*goes back to waiting for the next 7+ years development time indie RPG from Iron Tower and Styg*

Sawyer isn't involved with Tyranny.
Which is good. I used to be neutral-positive towards him but now that Talisman of the Unconquerable is removed from the Copperlane Catacombs (pseudo)random loot table, I understand why everyone hates him. Seriously, it's about the only item in gane that isn't completely meh and now you have to side with the Dozens to get it in act 2.
