Unbanning someone who tried to use this forum as his own personal neo-nazi propaganda platform after being warned would also set a rather...unfortunate precedent.
Did he really? Or was it more that he had the opportunity far too often? The times he was doing it were rife with political discussion threads that almost seemed to be crafted for the express purpose of starting the whole Nazi vs. everyone else drama.
Not to mention, who is he offending? This is the same site that constantly labels people dumbfucks, talks about anthropomorphic animal sex, and links people to pictures of scat porn and a man ripping his ass open. I don't think some asinine Stormfront copypasta dumb-as-hell and ripped to pieces by the Codex rant will hurt anyone. Point being, he does less harm (offending people) than other things do, yet he is banned for his ideals, not as much his actions.
And you do know people have been banned before TNP, right?
Yeah, for spamming out of control (nicktheimperial), as a Codex lynch mob for one day (Volourn), and a few internet drama suicide/bannings. It's happened, but never permanently just for one's ideals, however screwy.
Ultimately, yes, it is the administrators decision on what happens and no amount of bitching will stop that. But the whole "Nazi opinions are evil and equal ban" seems pretty strange, especially for the same site that advocates removal of such stark moral ground in the games they enjoy. Whatever though....I'm a crazed libertarian.
PS: If you argued it from a utilitarian standpoint and said his ideals may harm "Codex society" as a whole by endangering hosting....then I'd be inclined to agree, assuming that's true. And saying something like this would have completely eliminated all debate most likely because utilitarian arguments are usually pretty solid.
