re resolved issues with arguably the best rpg going around :)

My bug report has to do with 'Dumb' characters (4int or less). Is there is another way to find The Bedokaan Village, other than getting the quest from the elf in Qintarra (Winde i think that his name is)?
If there isn't, there is no way for dumb characters to finish the Ancient God's quest, as the shrine to Makaal is in that village.
Yeah, I wouldn't call that a bug, more like stupid character limitation.

If I remember correctly you can't even complete the geshtianna' idol quest with a dumb carachter, probably the ancient gods quest wasn't intended for such character in the first place.

You are possibly right.
I just noticed the fact that I couldn't get to the shrine of Makaal. Wasn't interested in the quest itself...

When asking someone in Blackroot about rumours, one of them says: "Have you seen Killian Drake down at the Sour Barnacle? I've never seen a more luckier dice player in all my life..."

"more" should be removed from the sentence.

I forget the exact context of the conversation (and i cant seem to get Arcanum running on this ancient PC), but isn't it possible that the grammatical error is intentional?

People who spend their time hanging around the Sour Barnacle cant really be held to the same English standards as the educated citizens of the Unified Kingdom.

Having said that its just as likley a result of late nights and caffine fueled game programming. Context is the issue, and anyone with a working version of Arcanum would be better qualified to comment.

Hello Drog and everyone. I have been follwoing this topic for a few days now and I am quite impressed. I played Arcanum when it 1st came out and I liked it very much. But, like others who played it, there were many issues and bugs with it. I put it away for some time and just recently re-installed it. The vanilla version works fine. It is patched to the latest official patch, but when I patch it with your updates, the game gives me a " Arcanum.exe has caused and illegal action and must be shut down" error. I am using XP SP2 op system. Anyone have an idea what I need to do? I enjoyed it when I played years ago and wish to finally complete this game. And Drog, you are doing a damn fine job. Keep it going.

Salute,
Raedwald

Found one bug

Bug: When i cleaned the Shuyler dungeon (@ Tarant) with Magnus, i kill the three Shuyler brothers and exit the dungeon.

Magnus than starts a conversation, thanking me for killing them. I tell him it's best to split up. When the conversation ends, everyone in my party dies.

Edit: It doesn't happen when you split up at any other moment in the game. You wont get killed if you keep Magnus in the party during the conversation.

2 end-game bugs so spoilars inbound.

1. When you say to Kerghan that you agree with him, some party members (like Magnus) start attacking you, while you still have dialogue with Arronax. This causes a battle and it makes convicing Kerghan that he's wrong impossible. When I left Magnus before talking to Kerghan it was ok.

2. If you convince Kerghan that he's wrong and use the vendigroth device on him, you still get the bad ending, as if you joined Kerghan. I think it should be good ending.

I'm fairly certain that this is intentional, since there is a spell animation that occurs after the conversation ends. If everyone simply died, I'd be more inclined to agree with you. I think it has to do with the whole "dwarven name is sacred" thing, which he gives you, and then you simply abandon him. What doesn't make sense is that immediately after the conversation, you can leave him, and you're fine.

Anyway, as a bug report, I noticed that the amulet that the elf in Stillwater that tells you where Qintarra is ("in the forest") wears has no description. I can't remember the name of the amulet off hand, but I think it's something like "N'Tah". It increases Strength and Constitution both by 1.

It's the Amulet of N'Tala. You can bring it to the elven herbalist in Shrouded Hills and she'll tell you Qintarra's location as an alternative. Maybe they figured anyone who pickpockets/loots it wouldn't wear it as they consider it a quest item needed to progress the game. The Game Banshee site seems to have it's full statistics: "(1) ST, (1) CN, (+100%) healing rate, 1 WE, 5 QU"

It calls Falcon's Ache script. Can't tell if it's intentional or not.

You have to identify the item.

Magnus doesn't let you negotiate with Schuylers, so I guess this was intended as well.
EDIT: Can't seem to find anything like this in the scripts. What was the exact line in the dialogue?

After I think Drog's second-to-last patch, I convinced Kerghan he was wrong, used the Vendrigoth Device on him without a battle and got the good ending with all my followers (Virgil, Magnus, Loghaire, Raven, Z'an A'lurin and Arronax) present during the dialogue. You're probably just not choosing the best possible dialogue choices.

Glad to see the fanbase is still strong for this game, and the modding community hasn't died out. Keep up the good work.

Here's one thing I noticed in my game: the medium sized Magick Robes claim to give an AC of 3 (+10), but my character is not realizing any portion of the +10 bonus -- the robes only confer the base AC bonus of 3. It's not an issue of magickal aptitude (mine is sufficiently high).

the level cap in the game is lame and im guessing it is there because they didnt have time to properly work out what level people will be when they get there.

The first time i played it my character had only about 1 follower so hit lvl 50 33% through the game. takes away some of the fun really.

Start a new thread about the level cap if you so desire. Don't spam it here anymore.

Descriptions on many kinds of magic robes and plate armor are wrong.

It's very, very clear that Drog isn't going to do the level cap remover. Just because he's doing this great project of his, he is in no way obliged to do some other patch that he doesn't want to do.

It's not going to happen, so let's cut the OT. This is a bug-report thread.

Edit: ...late...

Yup, he ain't gonna do no such thing, it's his obsession not to do so. And to not even discuss it. That's fine, but you're a hypocrite Drog, and you know it.

You're obviously not getting it, so I must spell it for you, it seems. I DON'T CARE. I'm not obliged to do anything. This is my project, and I may include naked elven girls tomorrow if I so desire, but unlike some people I have a bit of common sense. The project stays free of any custom content no matter what.

Moreover, this thread is for bug reports only. Stay on topic, or go away, you spammer.

wow. i really didnt think that was spamming. i was more about saying that things were left undone so what can you do. Dont be so god damned precious about it mein führer.
Of course, off-topic posts make it so much easier to go through bug reports in the already huge thread.

Not sure if my saves are just screwed or something but when I do the quest to retrieve the ale from Maug's warehouse in the Boil for Pollock's gang and kill the two guards guarding the warehouse, every time I try to loot the other guard my game crashes.

This was fixed in one of the early versions of the patch. Reinstall.

Seems after I reinstalled it, it works fine now. Now onto playing. I'll try to report any new bugs or omissions if possible.

It's after "You're offer is tempting... perhaps...". Magnus screams "betrayer" and attacks you while Arronax starts a new dialogue with you.

Yeah, and it's another misspelling, it should be "Your offer".

Part of the challenge is trying to work through the game using what limited resources (read: levels) you have. If Drog removed the level cap, he might as well give you a few extra points at character creation and get rid of all the backgrounds. A level cap is part of the challenge - a concept I know you dumbfuck youngsters find difficult to grasp.

I also would like to mention that it's unfortunate trolls have popped up in here again, not to mention people asking for gameplay help and calling their lack of skill a "bug".

Anyways, this next patch might be THE ONE. Can't wait!

I think we've already heard enough about the level cap. Bug report or gtfo.

Don't talk back to me, mister!
Watch me.

Bug report- if you leave Tsen-Ang (or whatever it's called) while Dark Elves in it and outside are hostile towards you, Virgil doesn't initiate his farewell dialogue. This can be fixed be entering Tsen-Ang and leaving again when all of the dark elves are dead but it's still a bug.

Didn't expect that, huh.
